egad man, your kickstand is leaking oil...
« on: June 12, 2011, 10:47:41 PM »
so there she sat after a short 15 minute ride during a break at work.  i left in kind of in a rollup doorway there at work.  a co-worker moved it so he could shut the door.  he comes up to me and says: "egad man, your kickstand is leaking oil."  how do you not smile at that?  while that made me laugh, seeing the little kickstand imprint with oil on the floor did not.  here are some pictures of what it looks like.  doesn't leak anywhere else.  anyone seen this particular leak before?

Automatic chain oiler, in the center of the counter-shaft, is the most likely suspect.
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

mine leaks from the seal behind the sprocket and runs down the kickstand like that.

I have the same leak. On mine, it is the neutral switch that is leaking. So if it is not the automatic chain oiler in the sprocket, or a loose drain plug, check the neutral switch. From what I have read, the neutral switch has an O ring on it to keep it from leaking, but it is usually the switch itself that leaks and needs to be replaced.

so in regards to the auto chain oiler, we're talkin' the ol drip system onto the chain being a little 'over-active'?  is the normal fix for that to pinch it off, or run a screw into it? and i take it that little tube is hiding under the cover that hides the front sprocket?
then there's the neutral switch o-ring.... hmmm.  i like the idea of going after that as well seeing that it doesn't work.  as in no juice coming out of it in neutral or in gear.  so i'm guessing that it's shot.  so why not change the switch and the o-ring?  right?
again, looking for feedback on pinching the auto chain oiler tube as well.  thoughts...
