Nice work! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

This project is brain-meltingly awesome.   Amazing work so far.  Love the keyless idea- I've been planning one for my current build.  glad to know there's an inexpensive solution.

Haha, thanks. Well, Im taking the R1 to Barber.  Turns out the previous owner decked the jugs or the head and I didnt know.  Once I torqued the head and jugs down with standard gaskets I had hard contact with the 1 and 4 pistons.  I avoided the temptation to break out the dremel and go to work on the combustion chambers and parked her till I get back.  Anyway, I got to see what everything looks like, to a point:

What 2 carbs are you using to replace the stock 4? I like the idea of that, I have a 650 and just kind of curious. Might like to try that one day, and tell everybody how I got the idea...

Been done a lot already. You need to get out more often. Go to the Triumph threads.

Lucky, for a start Triumphs are {the ones you refer to} are twins, so they either have 1 or 2 carbs, the Honda/4's on the other hand have only had the twin carb setups for a couple of years and CycleX is about the only place you can get them, and as far as i know, they only have them for the 750, not the 650..... No to mention that you have once again dredged up a year + old post.... :o

So an update from Barber.  If you've never been, make arrangements now for next year.  One of the best weekends of my 37 years.  Met a lot of new people, saw some unbelievable bikes and had a great time with old and new friends.  Though my CB stayed home, my R1 was in full swing and the ride to the track from the Drury hotel was absolutely amazing.  The leaves were turning and the road is a blast.  Were already talking about reservations and what well bring next year.  We were eating steaks, drinking beers and watching the fireworks after riding the parade laps on Saturday.  I mean really, can you ask for anything more?

Though I dont know Kiley we stopped by his place, its pretty damn awesome.  Were the guys from south Florida and had the triumph that snapped the kick stand on a little off road excursion on Silcard(sp?) road earlier that night.

Anyway, thanks for the words on the CB, I'm off to finish the last 2.8% of the work needed to get her on the road.  Photos outside and running to come shortly.  Thanks for the nominate on bike of the month, Ill take you up on it when its running.

Those rearset mounts look great.  Are you confident that they're strong enough?

Thanks, I like how they look and was really happy with how strong they feel. Per side it's two steel 1" bungs welded to the frame along with 2 m10 bolts through those 3/8" stainless angle brackets. The rearsets on my r1 move around more than these do.

Wicked.  To be honest, I wasn't sure if that bracket was stainless or aluminum, which is where my question came from.

Got her out in the sun today.  She idles, no oil leaks, charging system is good.  Need to tweak the carbs.

Thanks. That's one of Chris' exhausts from MotoGP werks. It has an internal glass packed baffle. Its tollerable at idle, I haven't gotten a chance to wringe it out yet, so I'm hoping it's not too loud.

Really looking forward to more pics.

You gonna show it north of the Mason-Dixon line sometime? I might do a road trip just to see that bike in person, man.
