Love what your doing. I have thought of those carbs for my build as well, and I had never seen the oil tank solution before! Now the frame can be clean. How do I subscribe?

I'm down in Miami. Tri-county here is west palm, broward and dade. Yea I got her for 500.00.

The polishing of your hubs and brake caliper is excellent. Would you mind detailing your procedure prior to hitting them with a polishing wheel?

I read a lot on here and just started going at it. Youll get a feel for it once you start getting your hands dirty. The key is not skipping a step. I removed lots of the surface defects with 400 grit using a variety of techniques. Id use the kitchen sink and my dremel with scotch brite attachments to get into the inside curves. Id use my hands, markers wrapped with sanding paper, you name it. Id keep the water running slightly in the sink to keep the dust down. It took many many hours so Id take breaks and work on different parts so I wouldnt go crazy working on the same hub for 10 hours... Once I got to 1000 grit then Id go outside and use a buffing wheel. After that Id hand polish with mothers.

Im working on that right now. Still have an aesthetic based decision to make, but either way theyll go on fine. Im making some all stainless hangers for the rearsets that will bolt to bungs welded to the rear frame uprights. The pieces are all cut and dry fitted with tape. Ill do some final fitting at the shop tomorrow. They will be height adjustable as well. They should compliment the curves and angles of the frame, but Ill let you guys be the judge of that when Im done.

Got the frame loop and rearsets fitted. Got a lift so I could set her down at ride height and see how things look.

Which parts do you mean? And if youre talking about things like the hubs, get ready to spend many many many hours doing it...

I picked up a 82 Nighthawk 750 and it needs a lot of work...and time but not money is what I have right now since I got layoff ...

Bike is lookin' great man!! Also don't know how I missed this one (better late to the party than never!!). Totally subscribed and many kudos on the polishing. I did alot of my parts a few years back and I know exactly what ya mean about it taking time. I must say yours looks to have alot more effort put forth than mine. Especially like the hubs & forks. I got pretty crazy into my upper triple and handlebar clamp/indicator light holder. One thing I plan to do when I start up on my 74' is polish the hell outa the valve cover & engine covers. Keep up the killer work man and I'll be keeping up on this one (can ya say BOTM???).

Front and rear, I'm guessing 18"

Did you powder coat, or anodize them?

Thanks. The hubs and spokes are polished. The rims were silver and anodized red. Those are excels, 19 2.5 front 18 3.5 rear.

And to answer an above question. yea I spent a ridiculous amount of time smoothing the imperfections in the surface before I took it up through the multiple grades. I used my dremel with scotch brite attachments along with good old elbow grease and then a buffing wheel at the end. It was a process that lasted months on and off.

Actually the fork lowers are easy to polish and pretty rewarding because theres lots of smooth surface to work with. I did use my dremel to take down some of the high spots and seams that were visible in the castings.
