cb 500t cant keep it running
« on: June 12, 2011, 07:29:11 PM »
so heres the deal.  I've got a cb 500t and i can start it and run it for a min even around the block then it dies.  kind of like its either flooding out or not getting enough gas.  plenty of spark but it will run then die.  I can't figure it out for the life of me.  I'm ready to junk the thing but its a sweet bike And i would love to ride the hell out of it...  Thanks ahead of time

Check your plugs. The condition will tell you if you are flooding. Since you know you have spark, the fuel is the next test. When it dies on you, pull the float bowls, is there gas in them? When was the last time the carbs got a good cleaning?

Rust/crap in the petcock not allowing fast enough fuel delivery to the carbs= 'running out of fuel'.
Clean the tank and petcock and then test the fuel flow...... good luck.
If your sure it's a carb problem; it's ignition,
