« on: June 10, 2011, 07:45:29 PM »
Just sharing another Shed Find. This guy even lives in my town. I was very fortunate to see this on CL right when he posted.
1974 Cb750 Basket Case, but the engine had been painted and polished and the frame freshly painted. Came with some PD carbs as well. Not sure if ill keep them if someone needs some.  Whatever isnt there I should have the parts from my last restore!!  yee haw!  Im currently going to swap out engines in my 72' so i can fix an oil leak then build up another cb750.

The oil tank is not from a K4.  It may be a K7/K8 oil tank.

Good luck!

Hmm the fork ears though with the turn signal buzzer are from the earlier bikes. Guess you can date the engine etc with the serial numbers.

Nice find there. I had one of those Corbin seats that was on a dohc 450 I restored, couldn't give the seat away. That is a true king and queen seat 8) 8) ::).   Good luck with the build...Larry

yes im sure there are parts from different years in that box. The Tank and sides are the Brown color,  the frame is a 74, titled and the engine number if i remember starts with a 230XXXX....  i think.  Ill have to double check it.   Either way should be fun to get another cb750 back on the road. not bad for $400.  Missing a back rim and fender in which I have 2 of each.

Tango-From what I have seen you are a very good "picker". You got that nice seat once around the Elkhart area I had my eye on I think  :'(   Keep buying that stuff when you find it around as I do,won't be around forever probably, and sure beats having to go on the internet if you need something  ;)

Definitely not a K7/K8 oil tank. The late tank is flat across the surface, not curved, the cap area is completely different, and the lines are all routed out the bottom.
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

thanks for the info.  I didnt look close at the tank,  was pretty sure it works on this 74'.   We'll see when i put it together.   Right now the polished engine is ready to install into my 72.   then ill be able to keep riding this summer while I build up the 74'.

I was just about to say the same thing.
The OP's tank looks like a K3/4 tank to me ???

is there a breather vent on the backside at the top? there should be 2 oil lines and 3 tubes coming out of that tank I believe.
