My original plan was to get the dyna s unit, however, since reading that HONDAMAN recommends modifying the stock advance for better performance, I find myself attracted to the idea of an electronic ignition which handles the advance curve internally, as the boyer-brandson unit says it does, based on its monitoring of the engine itself.

does anyone have any expereince with the boyer-brandson units?

thanks,

Adam

I thought the dyna s used the machanical advance too. I know there was a dyna that did not.

Yes. the dyna s does use the mechanical advance.  My thinking was that bypassing it and handling it electronically (as the boyer unit does) would allow timing advance to be more precisely and reliably applied.

Ok I misiunderstood. I have thought about it too. The 2 things holding me back is the cost outlay. You have 175 for the unit then new coils and wires and you are looking at about $300 or so. the second is if the processing unit dies, you are screwed. You are stuck and you either hope that warranty kicks in and that you dont wait all summer to get a new unit, or you put you old points back on.

That's a good thing about the Boyer. It works with stock coils

They all do but you will not get top performance with the stock coils. I suppose if you are looking to just get rid of points, then I suppose you would be ok.
You can however got new coils for a cb900 on partnmore.com for $26 each. course you need wires yet and those are about $20 on the net.
