I don't know about production details, yet the data tag shows 3/78 as the date and the bike is a 1978 so that makes sense. The bike was very dirty as expected, yet cleaned up amazingly well.

that is a truly beautiful survivor.  You do anything with the engine covers?   They look great but I have noticed they are usually the first area to show the years on a bike like that.
If it works good, it looks good...

Flyin900, nice bike in 100% original almost not used either!
I understand if you'll find another one to ride, add more km on the meter and store that bike in your livingroom ;)

Yes it truly is a survivor and I was really lucky to find it. It is not a rider for me, as I have 3 other bikes that I ride and insure, so I am the caretaker of it.
Sean I did polish the cases, yet they were actually quite decent with the clearcoat mostly intact. The cam cap ends and top cover I left alone, as they were good enough. I really tried to not over do it on the work, as it came with the original Bridgestone tires which I kept. It still has many yellow factory paint markings quite visible on the bolts etc.

Aside from the modern tires,it looks like it was just unpacked from it's original crate.

There has been an identical model for sale here in NZ, equally good condition, albeit restored I believe. Vendor hasn't been able to generate much interest as they were never sold here. A 500 in the same condition would have sold straight away.
Here's my 500, just received compliance, so now road legal.

Very nice transformation on the CB350F from the Candy Bacchus Olive to the Flake Matador Red, which was the most popular colour it seems. I am just restoring a 1972 CB350F.

This was the picture the PO used to advertise the bike initially, which caught my attention. While I found this one already restored and at first blush if looks really good, there are way to many Chinese parts used and unseen short cuts along with the expensive bits too.

Picked this up recently. Have wanted a orange 550 or 750 SS for several years as wife doesn't really want to tour anymore, and I didn't have a 'go for a spin' ride. I was skeptical at first that PO was telling stories, but it started and ran, so I paid what he asked and hoped. Well, the more I clean and polish, the more legit it gets. The only thing I know for sure isn't 100% original is the tank.

I suspect the bike might have been dropped, as left side case has small ding in bottom, and cuz the speedo/tach may have been replaced. The tack definitely damaged (building another), and I read the green dials were introduced in '76. The numbers on this indicate it's the last couple of the '75F0's, so maybe they are original.....

I'm getting tons of help in this forum, but not having used one before, still finding my way around. My plan is becoming two bikes in one; get to as close to perfect stock as I can, then add some easy to change street mod's for fun and style. I'll start a Project topic when I have a few of my plans completed, starting with '77 decals on this tank, and some 550 super sport decals I found to add as well. Should look pretty cool if I don't botch the job!

Thanks, and yes, the cowling is original and pretty good match with tanks fresh paint.
Interesting, your clocks also have a slight color difference between them as do mine.
redline @8K is also right (on mine) according to the specs I found. Keeping my faces and rebuilding the damaged case around it.
wonder how many parts exchange on 550 v 750...?

All of our bikes are more stock than not. We change things like exhausts due to rot, leaking shocks and parts we can't fix or rebuild. We always upgrade to better parts when we can.
It's a lot of pictures but if anyone wants pictures of any of them ask and I will post them. Even the 74' CB 550 K0 is more stock than not. The fenders and seat pan are stock, only adjusted a bit. ;) The frame is unaltered as well.
