it's easy to see that it's more than 51% stock...Most of the other bikes I see here look like 90%+ stock, but anything more than 50% still fits the category......

OK., well if your going in that direction, then I would suggest " more ORIGINAL than not" as the subject title.

Besides all the consumables that most/many bikes have replaced,i.e. hoses, light bulbs, oil, filters, shoes/pads,brake fluid, tires, cables etc..., consider that paint/decals/emblems, chrome, jets, exhaust pipes / mufflers, seat covers/trim, petcock, fuel tank, oil tank,etc... are often replaced or rebuilt as well. While replacement parts maybe stock parts, they aren't original to the bike they now reside on.

My 78 has little that isn't original, which is to say that didn't come with the bike, aside from the oil/fuel/filters/battery. I believe it was as sold to the Original owner when I bought it from him. However much has indeed been painted/powder coated and modified to some extent, yet the parts are the original parts to the bike itself so it all depends on the definition of "stock" that you are applying on this forum.

Aside from what I consider "consumables" that have been replaced, so too the exhaust, pods, tail light assy.,license plate, side covers, grips, rear shocks and oil pressure gauge are neither stock nor original, hardly more than 50% of all the parts involved in a stock or original bike.

If you want to include paint or plating, then remember everyone that has repainted/re-plated their parts/bikes, unless they somehow managed to get the original Honda paint or plating, not just the original stock colors/finishes, has an altered bike or parts thereof. Then there is the lack of a definitive way to prove that the "original" fender you bought to replace the one your bike didn't have or was damaged beyond repair, has the original chrome from Honda or has been re chromed by someone else, or the tank that you bought has the original paint not just an original colored paint etc...
Then by the "loose" definition of stock,  A 69  750 that came from the factory with the actual sandcast cases had them replaced after failure is no longer 100% original but still stock, or if I resurrected a basket case and replaced a 78 drive train in a otherwise complete and stock 78 frame is that still within the definition?, and would it still be if I put an all stock 750 f1 engine in a k chassis?, etc...,

So, since I KNOW that well over 50% of the parts on the bike in the picture are original, what are the criteria for the definition of the subject: the sum of the original or stock parts, surface area, weight, mass, volume, geometry, adjustments, performance, speed, quickness, torque, horsepower, cornering angle, ground clearance, tire size/sidewall ratio, tread pattern, gear/sprocket ratios, or any other quantifiable aspect of the 1978 CB 750 K as delivered from the factory.

And then there is the fact that most of us were not able to buy these wonderful machines new and then watch and witness their packaging, delivery and subsequent assembly at the dealer before we purchased it, therefor there remains a possibility, and a probability as well, that your 100% stock bike isn't...

And finally, if the Moderator or anyone else really wants to object to my efforts, then by all means remove the original post, I only wanted to participate in,  and become part of the community of enthusiasts here with which I share a affinity for said machines, if I am in error or not welcome then please let me know forthwith and i shall not bother you or anyone anymore.

And to you  evanphi, pedantry abounds within all forums I have read or been a participant in, therefor your enjoyment must be great indeed!! ;)

While I have looked at the other bikes here, I believe I've made a good case that the subject title needs a lot more definition for your conclusion to be the only one viable. As for my underwear and it's condition, I go without, therefor there's nothing to bunch, twist, or otherwise disturb.

Secondly I don't care for your implied insult, I explained myself rationally, without rancor or insults, implied or directly stated, just the facts as I know them, and I'd prefer we all kept it that way, if you would do the same i would appreciate it.

and for example; The duck-billed platypus doesn't appear to fit the mammalian classification, it even lays eggs instead of live birthing, yet after decades of research it still remains a part of the species, looks are often deceiving, so just because it looks one way to you or most people, it doesn't make it so when all the facts are considered...

There was a TV ad over here a little while ago, I can't recall what it was for, but it featured a duck-billed platypus. My kids were convinced it wasn't 'real', and I had to show them it truly was a genuine animal.

'More stock than not' suggests to me that the bikes I will see here will be mainly true to their original appearance. This one is far removed from that IMO. That's not to say it isn't a nice bike though.  :)

Appreciate the observations and compliment, however as I stated earlier, I stand by my definition of stock and leave it to the moderator(s) if they disagree.

As to my point, I would endeavor to make it as simple as I can for all who read hereafter: If you repaint your entire, 100% stock and original bike, is the entire bike no longer stock or just the paint? I say it's still stock and original except the paint, therefore now one must define what constitutes the criteria of stock and or original,I think you can agree that the title itself does not do so, and if as you say the looks are the only criteria, then perhaps the moderators would add that to the subject title for clarification.

Putting mascara and lipstick on a pig doesn't change the fact that it's a pig, putting  Norton decals on your Honda doesn't make it a Norton, painting an otherwise stock Honda doesn't make it a custom but a stock Honda WITH custom paint.Or if you prefer the mechanical:if I rebuild my engine and add an 832 kit, different cam, con rods, head porting, larger valves, or in any way altered from stock,(my 76F1 is such), but in all way visual it's still looks stock, is it? I say no, hell it's not only not stock, it's  not even a "750" anymore, now it's an "850"... ;) As the old saying goes: "Looks aren't everything".

I have repainted or powder coated virtually all of the exterior of this bike, however all of the parts are stock and/or original to this bike, so in all other aspects I still maintain this bike is more than 50% original and stock and therefore fits the category as it is currently stated.

I can't make it any plainer than that, so for those that would opine in a disagreeable or negative fashion, I defer to the moderators and wish you all safe and happy riding today and everyday...

aww poor Crackon - at least the brake disc and the headlight side reflectors still look stock? My 500 has some not stock parts too, the most obvious ones being the dog leg brake and clutch levers and the piece of vinyl stuck over the front half of the seat...  ;D

Likewise Mate, seems you're missing the point I'm making. Looks aren't the only thing to consider.

It doesn't matter what the "majority opinion" is when there's a moderator to make that decision, and IMHO it's up to the person who started this Subject to define this.

As to the incomplete list of painted or altered parts you made, consider you can only see one side, there's more that isn't stock looking, and again if you believe the title "More Stock than Not" limits this to stock looking bikes then it seems you're missing the point I made with the paragraph you quoted, and SEEM to have overlooked the significance of it, so i reiterate: If you paint an entirely stock and original CB750K the bike is no longer stock looking but in all other ways, mechanically, electrically, geometrically, hell even the tires are original(a museum piece that you bought and decided to customize perhaps),are you saying that a bike like this is less than 50% stock? if so I definitely yet respectfully, disagree.

And then on the other hand my race prepped "850" F1 that in all ways looks stock, but in all mechanical/performance ways isn't, are you saying that bike would fit here despite the fact that the bike isn't even a "750" anymore or that the entire drive-train has no stock components? Again if you say yes I respectfully disagre, it takes more than looks for anything made to be stock or "more stock than not", especially motor vehicles.

The number of examples are enormous so here's one more I think might help:
A Generation 1 Chevrolet Small block V-8 265 cid. looks the same as the rest of the Gen 1 small blocks through 400 cid, so if I change my 1955 Chevy's  265 cid 180hp/195 hp to a bored and stroked 383 cid (350 cid originally) at around 400hp, that because it looks identical to the stock engine it make a stock car? Definetly not, visually it may be the same but in many other important and tangible aspects its anything but stock or even mostly stock.

Anyway if it's a majority rule kinda thing here, then nothing I have to say will over come the prevailing opinions, regardless of the facts or analogies i present, so that's why i appeal to the people/person who started this whole thing... Cheers... ;)

Negative, I repainted the center of it with non-Honda paint, so by the popular definition it's no longer stock... but the reflectors are, I didn't do anything to them besides remove and replace as need for the frame up restoration/modification process. No need for the consolation however, I'm used to the majority disagreeing with me, as a pragmatist I don't settle for opinions, popular or otherwise, when sufficient facts are available for a sound, deductive and logical conclusion...But that's just me...Cheers! ;)

Crack On, I don't think the mods are going to give a flying fck even if this discussion goes on for all eternity. That's a bit like kids argueing in the playground with one of them saying 'just wait until teacher comes, she'll prove me right'. The thread is 'owned' by the OP, and generally due consideration is shown by posters to keep it as true to it's original intent as possible, though all threads tend to go off track occasionally. But the grown-ups usually sort things out themselves. :)

Cheers... ;)

wow, you are a slow learner mate....   Your bike doesn't belong here, its not about your opinion at all, actually, your opinion doesn't even matter... If you walked up to me in the street and told me your bike was mostly stock, i'd fall over laughing.... ;D

My CB500K1 which was finally resurrected and back on the road this past spring. Nearly all stock except for: All Balls steering bearings and the combo reg-rect unit, and the speedo and tach are from a 77-78 550K.
As you can see I didn't do a pristine restoration because I like that it shows its age with tank paint, etc. Still needs some things such as new rear fender and taillight holder which are pretty rusty, and the brittle side cover finally broke after this photo was taken, so those need replacing. There's always something.
