Thanks Kap!  She is very nice for 40 years old!  I love the reliability!  Not too many 40 year old bikes can run mile after mile with no problems at all, a testimony to the craftsmanship Honda put into these bikes!  I love the looks of the original CB 750, 1969 to 1976.  These bikes are clean, simple, and look like a motorcycle should.  No bike built today, in my opinion, can match the original CB 750's looks or the simplicity, reliability factor.  Here's to 40 more years for my bike, I plan on some day giving the bike to my son in the second picture!  I hope he will have as much fun with it as I have ;D

Here are a couple of pictures of  my 1972 cb 750.  The bike is completely stock except for the windshield I added (a must where I live).  I am the third owner of this unrestored, 31,000 mile survivor.  This bike had 19,000 miles on it two years ago when I bought it.  I enjoy riding my bike and not hiding it in my garage where no one can see it!  The only breakdown I have had is that I ran it out of gas, once!              Justin in Texas

Original owner 550  :)   Looks like new, and you've taken great care to keep it that way. I'll assume you still have the original exhaust tucked away under your bed  ;D

Thx K5owner...........let's don't bring up the original exhaust :'(

I still remember the guy asking me......What do you want me to do with these factory pipes?

The 17 year old (stupid/brain dead) version of me said..."I don't care.....I don't want them".  If I had stashed em away.....I imagine they would be worth more than the bike!!!

Cheers

Bluto, my '74 550 was exactly like yours just a few months ago- exellent condition and all stock except for the 4-1 exhaust. I finally broke down and bought a new set of OEM 4-4 pipes, which weren't even available back in the late 90's, but evidently they made a new factory run of them for replacements. Set me back $850, but I gulped and went through with it. Now I'm very happy I did. The bike just looks COMPLETE now, and I do love the look of the 4 pipes, especially from the rear. Your bike looks great, and you and I are both original owners- a pretty exclusive club.

Bill, Bike Bandit has the new run of the Honda OEM pipes. You buy each pipe separately. I thought I had saved all the original hangers and hardware, but after 15+ years the hangers were nowhere to be found. A forum member (Weedo) helped me out since he was getting rid of stock pipes to do a cafe conversion. I painted them up and now every thing looks new. I'm very pleased, and hope to get many more years out of this machine. I sold my almost new Mac 4-1 to Frosty Boy in Australia, and everybody ended up happy. Be sure to post some pictures of your bike, now and then again if you do the conversion.

There's a certain lure and mystique about stock bikes. Especially origin owners that have kept them up. My hat goes off to all that have kept their rides and polished them so we can all appreciate em.

I haven't been good about keeping bikes for long and most everything I have is modified to some extent. But the 750 will remain stock, two of the kids already threatened me with bodily harm if I sell it.

When I think of guys like Doc and K5owner and the years that they have kept, and maintained their bikes, it really is quite an accomplishment.  Think of what 40 years bring.   You have had to be able to afford the bike in the first place, then comes 40 years of life changes; changes in taste of rides, wife, kids, economic status.  What if you marry someone who could care less about motorcycles?  Or marry a Harley lover?  Obviously you have to keep it upright all of those years and that in itself is a challenge.

It really is quite a deal if you think about it.  Hats off

'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

Hi Phaedrus,
What a coincidence! My girlfriend then had exactly the same 350 and I had and still have the same excel black 500. Can't forgive myself that I left the originally grabrail where I used to live. After mounting the luggage rack, I thought I would not need it anymore. I regret it now, bike looks so much nicer with that grabrail.

Hi Deltarider,
I totally agree about the looks of the grabrail. That's also the reason why I have one on my 750. It's not original on the European CB750-K2 but looks better though. It's also very helpful with putting the bike in my mall shed (easier lifting up the bike from behind).
A used 500-K2 grabrail is not to hard to find I guess. Lots of these bikes are turned in caferacers. If you check at René (van Maanen) or de Blauwe Plaat in Utrecht you'll probabely find one...
