Thank you gents! I do want to replace the whole thing as the manifold has a lot of nasty looking surface rust. Though I could probably just wrap it for now until I find something I'm happy with. I am partial to a four into two or four into four setup. But I won't discount the 4-1 entirely.
Im running an old kerker header, wrapped, with Cone engineering 18" muffler.  love it.

Don can you elaborate on that rolling work platform? That looks like a simple very useable idea. How much weight can it handle?

It's a steel dolly a guy gave me fitted with some 4x6's and a solid wood door. Since then I've bought a Harbor freight lift and put the door on the curb.
It worked well once the bike was on it. I used a hoist to pick the bike up, the ramp idea tanked when the cart rolled away while loading.
I built a wheel chock out of angle iron and carriage bolts and a stand for the IV fuel bottle.

A little off topic,  I have plans for a wooden lift that uses a HF jack for lifting. It used iron pipe for the lift rods.  It uses a wooden ramp to get the bike on the table and front wheel clamp also of wood.  If there is interest I can copy the copyrighted plan... I don't remember where I got it from or I could ask permission...so, it would be a bit of a copyright violation to post it...I'm willing to do so.  It is subject to no responsibility on my part if you build one and it causes any issues with you damaging a bike before it is locked down, but you have that same liability when using a regular bike lift.

Bars, blinkers, a single left hand mirror, trailer light in the rear, chopped rear fender, exaust can. It's still more stock, right?  :P

My now running resto(mod?)! Other than a few upgrades such as brass bushings, tapered steering bearings, sealed wheel bearings, she's pretty much bone stock, including the 4 into 4 exhaust. Only thing I varied was I decided to go with a solid colour like the 400F, I prefer it. Engine was painted as well, but it's pretty close! It's a 1978 CB550

Hey flatlander, mine's a 550K and I really dislike the two tone/ stripping layout. Plus it was like a brown colour. Just bad haha. You're talking about the "shiny orange" eh? Like the one in the photo? That's actually a pretty cool colour. I'm a fan of orange, and it's almost similar to my red. It's only on the earlier models, but definitely worth looking into to get the colour right for the full 70s look. I'm planning on painting it over next winter anyway as this was a rattle can rustoleum 50$ paintjob just to get it on the road for this summer.
Thanks for the info!

'71 K1 750  About 90% stock and 85% original at least on the outside.  Debate with myself every day about painting it.  Tank has some nice patina but the current bike of the month has me drooling over that nice fresh look.

Mostly stock 1975 CB750. Barn find with less than 4000 miles sat for 35 years.

Modifications:

- Exhaust headers and mufflers. (re-purposed the original heat shields onto non stock mufflers)
- Seat pan reupholstered with lower profile.
- Tank and side panels repainted.
- Bar end mirrors.
- Replaced front and rear turn signals.

This is my mostly stock 75 CB550k. It sat in storage for over 20 years. It required a lot of work but I feel it was worth it.
