Wow Bobby. Thanks for that. I now feel like I know Ernie more than just some posts and a distinctive avatar. He truely was as distinctive as the self portrait avatar he gave us. RIP.

   Yes Bobby sure put it quite well alright. And, when Uncle put something on ya, you had to KNOW hi personality, to REALLY appreciate his comments. ;)

I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

 I'm very sad to see that a special member has died.  I have also just lost two close friends lately.  I my self in 2008 almost died due to the fact that i'm a diabetic and i didn't know it !!   Friends,  you should live every day to the best and fullest that you can, because you never know when mother nature will grab your last breath from you.  My post that i started will miss Uncle Ernie more than i can describe.
    To Uncle Ernie and all of the close ones that we have lost,  this is for you............

"Uncle Ernie" will be missed on many forums, I'll miss his occassional emails the most.

As mentioned by a few, his last few months offered him many challenges, these are over now and hopefully he is happy and at peace.

None of us know who is next, or when our number is up.

Even more reason to cherish those that have touched our lives.

Uncle Ernie was honest with me, and for that I'll always be appreciative. I learned good things from him, that is something that can not be said of everyone, making Paul someone special.

He truly rode for one, and rode for all.

Godspeed and RIP

As some have said, Uncle Ernie's death was probably the result of health care here. In more ways than one for sure, there was foot dragging getting him in I suspect and then the docs decided that while he was there, lets put in a couple of stints since his heart is bad. The second one is what killed him. Stay away from docs is my motto.
Bobby did a great job painting a picture with words of Uncle Ernie, I'll add to his SF hair dressing days that Uncle Ernie told me he was probably the only straight one there. I thought some of you might enjoy a bit of the last email I received from Uncle Ernie. I don't think he'd mind me posting this particularly now.

"Speaking of which- I am ready to go.  Lor' Lor'- when this weary day is ohhh-ver, I'lllll fly a-way. 
 
So this guy is giving some of his field hands a ride home- his own kids- and he says, "When I die I'm taking it ALL with me.  You kids waste your money, but I save and It's going with ME!"  BTW- they get 25 cents a day)
So the 8yo wedged between a huge sack of vegitable they had picked and the side door of the station wagon says, Chester- you better get it all in coins, and Chester says, "Huh?  Why?"
Because alla yer paper money is gonna bern in hAIL.
 
I'm trying to read the book of John.  This sleep deprivation thing makes me act like I'm drunk.  After reading for 2 minutes my eyes get real heavy and I fall on my face- fast asleep.   But, an angel told me to read it, so I'm trying.  Me and God have been going at it.   I'm sure He thinks it's cute and is laughing His butt off.  I guess I have to assume I'm someow doing what I'm here to do.  What a cruel joke.

A sobering reminder of our mortalities.   
  Uncle Ernie was a character.  He shaped and exuded originality. There was no one else like him here.  As well as his creative mind, I think his sensitivity was his best virtue. Anyone remember his emotive description of riding with his friend in the winding roads in the foggy mountains near his home?
  Ernie was an artist at heart. Artists often are not understood and can live lonely lives. We should all let the people who we instinctively connect with how we feel about them when they are alive so that they know they are appreciated.

i've followed Ernie on that very street if that's where I think it is anyway. Looks like the stop light coming out from the way back into his house. I wish I'd gotten a video of him dragging his knee on the on ramp whilst riding his W650.

    Uncle TRULY WAS a "Special Sort of Guy" and this following shows that!

    First time or 2, that he posted something that seemed to be sarcastic, he would send me a 
    PM explaining exactly what he meant and it didn't take long for me to realize his way of
    showing he cared.     

           Now, he's feeling no pain and doesn't have to deal with Doctors any more!
