Godwin's Law...(modified)
« on: June 16, 2011, 02:40:28 PM »
So I noticed a common theme on this forum and felt compelled to share this site ...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin%27s_law

For those too lazy or apathetic to look... Mike Godwin noted "that, given enough time, in any online discussion—regardless of topic or scope—someone inevitably criticizes some point made in the discussion by comparing it to beliefs held by Hitler and the Nazis."

Seems totally irrelevant to a motorcycle forum doesn't it?

well, hear me out.  Like Godwin, I've noticed that given enough time, in this forum every discussion will become a Stock Vs. Cafe debate.  Alright, that's it thanks for wasting 2 minutes of your life looking at this post  ;D
" Why does anyone get offended by what someone does to their own bike? I dont get it. "

You made me think about it after I cheered knowing someone else would like to know what these control freaks are up to.
Every time any owner strips whatever precious Honda part the horrified purists parts go up in value. That's not the part that bothers them.
What bothers them is they sat up late at night, their breast full of wonder and estrogen, unable to sleep, dreaming about their lovely darling and all her glory... and next thing you know someone else doesn't share their emotional deluge and their reaction is they must spread their mind museum as far as they possibly can, taking over as much of the real world as possible.

I have been patiently waiting for someone to make a cafe/nazi comparison so I could post this earlier but it hasn't happened... according to Godwin it's inevitable and I can't wait for that moment.

dude your such a nazi

i think what he ment was that if someone in the forums was just being brutal in their own way of thinking or beliefs someone would be like "dude your a nazi"

i say it occasionally on gaming forums that just talk sh*t

brilliant though that some guy actually got his name on wiki stating the obvious in a scientific manner

You proved his point Smooth!  I think its actually an interesting theory.

say for example people are talking about kittens, somehow, given enough time, a discussion about kittens would become about nazi's.

Awesome Gordon, good work! Although not what i was going for...

Here you go Warwick, from a comment stream to an editorial in today's Chicago Tribune about the Board of Education cancelling (per the terms of the contract) a scheduled 4% raise for Chicago teachers:

chigirl1 at 7:28 AM June 17, 2011
Brizrard's salary is over $20,000 above Huberman's salary from last December.  Yet teachers don't deserve the raise promised in their contract.  And the big business CEOs on Rahm's board see no problem with this.

There are so many administrators at CPS that they do not know what to do with themselves.  There are schools with less than 500 students but with 2 APs.  There are area offices all over the city full of even more administratos and highly paid consultants.  Human Capital, known to all as HR, is in a sep. building on Elizabeth St.  And let's not discuss the drivers and body guards needed for many of the folks at 125 S. Clark.

The amount of money spent on themselves as opposed to students and teachers is appalling.  But it seems to be too complicated ??????? for the uneducated teacher-haters to understand.  Better to just poor out your hatred on the easy targets.  No thought needed there.  Very similar to the Nazi's hatred of Jews.  Don't think.  Just hate.  So easy to do, right?  Esp. when teachers are vilified by Rahm and Vitale.

What about threads about nothing?  I offer as evidence The South Side Dive Bar. I have been a contributor there since about page 120( when the pages were 10 or 15 posts, not the 25 they are now), and before I posted, I read the entire thread. There's 3 hours I'll never see again.  My point is that no one has ever called someone a Nazi there, or ever made a Nazi comparison.  Sure, someone could go in there and drop the word there or call someone a Nazi, but that wouldn't fit the law's parameters.

Interesting side note, that my spell check didn't like the word "Nazi" until it was capitalized.  Maybe my spell check is a Nazi! (Did I just break Godwin's Law?)

radam your bike  will cost about the same as mine,$500 or about half that with solo rego if you come to queensland, the compulsory third party insurance is worked out on the engine size,my 5 litre car just cost me $980 for the coming year,no concessions on daily driven cars although you can get special club rego or similar for cars only used rarley on club events and then its as cheap as chips, bikes here pre 76 have no compliance plate, your 78 might need to be inspected and an australian compliance plate fitted,if you go to new south wales the inspection will be conducted by the last of the true nazis!

i guess i was the first,maybe?

Oh no.  You weren't the first.  We had an entire political area during the 2008 elections.  It happened almost every other post.
