What the hell is this thing?! - fork damper
« on: June 16, 2011, 11:23:35 PM »
So I'm working on my buddy Joe's K3 750 (*ahem* where's the build thread buddy?!?!?)

when suddenly...

a wild suspension damper appears!!

anyone ever seen anything like this before?
It's similar to the stock setup but this has a rod that screws into the fork cap, goes through the spring and attaches to a piston/seal inside the lower pipe.

I'm not sure if there's a way to get the rod out. It looks like the oil lock (pipe bottom) is soldered on there or something so I can't push it through.

Anywho, I have no information on it. If anyone has any idea what I've got here and how to set it up properly I'd appreciate some help.

I'll post more pics tomorrow. Right now it's bedtime.

They look like early disc 450 forks to me
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

HAHA by golly you're right!
well that's interesting... wonder how they're going to work on the 750.

do you think those springs are any good or should I just use stock cb750 springs?
