Marvel Mystery Oil with Kreme(ish) tank liner?
« on: June 18, 2011, 06:54:09 PM »
It appears that my bike's PO did a crappy job of lining the tank. There's this hard beige substance on parts of the inside - not all of it. Maybe he used SeaFoam or something? And it ate part of the liner? Anyway it's hard - doesn't come off when you scrape it with your fingernail. There was some rust in my tank so I've got it soaking in EvapoRust which I've used before with good results. So, I want to pour some Marvel Mystery Oil in there once I've got it rinsed out and dried to keep any new flash rust at bay. Any chance that the MMO will eat away at the liner that's left?

If it's worth doing, it's worth doing twice.

I do not think the MMO will hurt it. I do think it needs to be redone back down to the metal. In other words start over. :-\
