What do you do with old gas?

This weekend I'm going to clean out my tank and install a new petcock. There's probably not much more than a half-gallon more than reserve in there, so what - 1.5 gallons? It's got a bunch of rust floating around in it. Don't want to just dump that much out by my fence in the back - what are my other options?

Or take it to a Kragen or a shop to dispose of...likely for free.

4th of just is just around the corner.

dig a trough and put your fireworks in it.
pour the gas in it and make a trail back to a safe area.

soak some logs and enjoy a bonfire?   ;D

Check with a couple local auto-parts stores.  I know many of them will only take oil and other (non-flammable) fluids, but I know the advanced auto parts by my house will get rid of spent gasoline as well.

Put it in a used half gallon liquor bottle... leave a little room, stuff with styrofoam cups until it wont take anymore... wrap a rag around the bottle... light it on fire.. point at something you want to burn for a long time, and throw.

Gather-up whatever you need to get rid of around the house including old paint ( dry or liquid ) metal, wood , old computer stuff and up to 10 gallons of old gas/oil/diesel and take it to Trinity Lane Center ( open Sats., about 2 miles from your house ). They will take it all !! Admission = $6 well worth it !!
I'm an 'expert' on East Nashville now... :D ;)

Weed killer.  Or,
Filter it (through Cheese cloth, or cotton denim) and pour it in the truck or lawn mower.  A gallon with take you another 15-30 miles.  Color won't matter, chunky fuel isn't much good though.

I filter it then mix 50/50 with good gas. Then put through the lawnmower.

Did you know your skin is a permeable membrane.  Which means chemicals will pass through it and go directly into the blood stream.  Yes, your liver/kidneys can scrub most of it out.  But, it takes it's toll over time and can make you sick both near term and later in life.

Then there are the aromatics/and vapors, which the lungs also transfer into the blood stream as it passes oxygen.

ill second that,i used to use petrol as a kid,kerosine aint so bad,get an old lawn mower fuel can or two for that fuel and take it to some eco friendly recycle joint,or just kill weeds along your fence line with it,itll disperse,but i never told you that.(disclaimer).

                                                                                                                                                                           Yes when I was young I used to wash my hands in Petrol/Gasoline just to get the grease and #$%* off .Literally wash in a old tub like washing with water! Wish I had n`t now!

 :( i like my hands so i wear gloves.... i dont like getting my hands dirty lol. if there not in chemical gloves there in hospital gloves. if i do anything on my bike i put on gloves.... i usually always look like a surgeon.

im not degreasing parts in my bedroom the bucket sites outside.....

i litterally cleaned my gas tank too so thats is litteraly what i did  :P the gas is almost all evaporated though

what do you all use to degrease our parts? other than molasses dave500  ;D

cans and cans of 3m brake cleaner, compliments of my work  ;D

spray, hold breath, spray some more, move to ventilated area... come back repeat...

I will surely have cancer from the chemicals i am exposed to daily, but I do wear gloves most of the time especially when bathing in chemicals, and i wear a full face respirator when painting or dealing with heavy fumage... worst part is going to do my respirator lung test every 6 months so the boss will let me use the damn thing.
