After reassembling my 750 K2 for the umpteenth time, I found a base gasket leak front and centre. I've torn the top end down again and can't see anything untoward, so I'm not quite sure why it didn't seal properly last time (faces are flat, and it's been oil tight before in case you were wondering). I'm thinking it's possible the engine wasn't completely oil free when I put the last one back on (in terms of there being oil in the jets around the rear cylinder studs), which could have seeped a little when I was timing the engine, but beyond that, I'm struggling a bit to know what not to do next time.
I'm gonna wipe everything down with thinners, use a new base gasket (maybe coated in copper grease) and new o-rings round the oilway studs - what else should I do to make sure I stay completely dry next time?
Thanks
