Ugh.
53.6 °F  when I left for work.
96.6 °F  now.
Prolly 105 °F  by the time I get home.

How the hell are you supposed to dress for a 50°F temp swing?
Nothing like crawling along in bumper-bumper at 100+ in full gear.  >:(

Wow, that is terrible. Almost as bad as days straight of rain and high wind. Oh wait, suck it up. You have nothing to complain about. Carry a #$%*ing backpack and then you can have cooler weather and hot weather gear. You will notice a distinct lack of sympathy from me on this. My spring has consisted on mostly #$%*ty weather, with still having snow in may.

I should edit this since it sounds harsh. I am not trying to be rude but weather does not cooperate very well. These temp swings happen here every year. It is not uncommon for us to have 30-40 degree temp swings in 1 day, at any time in the year. As such, I either compensate by packing a lighter jacket or getting gear that has removable liners. Or I plan a different route. Some times I cant go as fast but moving is better than not moving any day.

Rain sucks when you dont have a windscreen and your suit is not fully waterproof and you sit in wet jeans half a day. Chaffing is evil.

The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco.

Yeah - Nothing like growing mushrooms in your shorts.

What can I say, I HATE heat. I'm fine riding all winter when it's in the upper 20's in the moring. But this 100 deg crap kills me.

Move to portland, or.  We've had maybe five days over 75 so far, most are cloudy or drizzly in the high 60s. Then, in the winter, we get to average 35-40 all the time with soulcrushing amounts of rain and more cloudy drizzly crap.

We were gonna move there a few years back - had a job lined up & everything - but familial forces conspired to keep us here.
2 years later we tried for Eugene & got reigned in again...

I'm with you on the large temperature swings.  It was really the only thing that bugged me about riding in Denver, but I had the canyons and mountains minutes away so I didn't complain much. ;)

Back in Texas now, though, and I couldn't be happier.  I grew up here and I LOVE the Summer in Texas.  Stupid hot and humid!  Bring it on!!!  And it won't cool down again until October or November, so the Winter riding gear is packed away tight. :)

15+ days over 100 here in Austin already.  By August it should be 120.... You're obviously insane.....  ;)

My wife thinks so!  She grew up in Vermont.  It's been in the upper 90's and low 100's for the past couple of weeks here and my Son and I couldn't be happier.  We hang out playing and working in the garage all day, and my wife and daughter come out to check on us and don't last more than about 30 seconds. ;D

I lived in Austin for all of my 20's and spent most of the Summers either at the lake or Barton Springs.

I can't talk my wife into moving to Texas.  She'd rather freeze than bake.  I hate the cold, snow in particular.  I remember Illinois too well.  Good place to be from.

I covered the skylights in workshop with solar screen last week. Yesterday I was able to work until about 3pm when the temp reached 100. By 5 it was 110.  I'm seriously considering investing in AC...

You should think about getting an evaporative cooler.  It won't work as well as an AC since it tends to be fairly humid in Austin, but it will drop the temp some, and will be a fraction of the cost to purchase and run, and won't require insulating the garage.

You think riding with swings like that sucks, try drag racing when you get a swing like that after your time runs and before first round. The weather station and laptop just say HUH? The adjusted altitude changes over a thousand feet!

Evaporative coolers work best when the outside humidity is low.

However, they raise the humidity in the space they cool, which promotes rust.

A/C both lowers temp and reduces humidity.

Things to consider...

What can I say, I HATE heat.

I have to agree. If I 'had' to choose between 100F and 0F, I would go with zero. At least you can put more clothes on. There's a limit as to how much clothing you can remove without risking arrest or offending others.  ;)

+1, I can always get warmer by putting more stuff on, I go to the pokey when I take too much stuff off.
