Yeah...but your '76F isn't an early diecast, 2k mile, Vic World bike.  It is incredibly beautiful, but he's got a high reserve price.  I'd spend that kind of money on a sandcast that needs a little love (if I had it to spend on motorcycles...).

The fact that it's a diecast isn't a selling point.  The seller is just differentiating it from the earlier sandcast engines so there's no confusion on the part of potential bidders.

Yeah, his early, low mileage thin stripe is a different collectible than your F.
His reserve asking price is steep though, it will be interesting to see what it eventually goes for.

honda is crazy(dont get butt hurt guys,if if didnt like them i wouldnt be here)..

what im confused about is,well for example a 36 knucklehead and a 70 ironhead are 2 way differnt motors..so i can understand a big differnce on price...but 69-78? honda cb 750s are all exactly the same motors..just some were poured into sand and other into a die...who decided that hondas were worth this much?and collectable?i bought mine for 350 bucks...with a title.

sorry guys, please dont be offended.im not meaning to talk down on these bikes(i efffin love them)but if some one could clear things up for me that would be great.

Why the confusion?

As things become more sought-after, they start to become more valuable to those who have them and to those who want them.  It's a supply-demand thing.  For whatever reason, the Honda sohc4 bikes have been getting more popular for the past ten years or so.  The early CB750's are the most popular because they're the most known and they're what started it all.  Of that 750 subset, the "sandcast" bikes are the oldest and rarest, so of course they're going to be more sought-after and command a higher price.

Why does the dollar have value?  Because enough people believe it does.  It's as simple and simultaneously confounding as that.

The sohc4 Hondas, and especially the earlier models with the sandcast engine cases that set them apart from the rest, have value because enough people believe they do.

I am with you, Pat.  Because they have a camel toe on the seat and 9 screws in the muffler belt cover vs 10 in the later bikes they are the bee's knees.   ;D  It's all to much of a geekfest for me. ;D

It is possible to understand something but not agree with the mentality.  I understand why certain people will pay that much money for something they want, even though I may think they're crazy for doing it.  I just can't figure out if Pat doesn't agree with the mentality or flat-out doesn't understand it.

It's a great bike. It's 4 months older than mine and worth many times more. LOL

I wouldn't pay the money but I understand those that want the best. I'll likely have more fun with mine though.

It's the flip-flop. I am into Harleys (especially Shovels) but even I know they are junk. The Harley thing got way saturated, and the brand has lost it's luster- kids nowadays hotrod Civics, not Camaros.

Alright, this is getting out of hand, at this rate I'll never be able to afford the <K2 stocker I have been wanting to get for a while.
