Never Thought About This Before, But....
« on: June 23, 2011, 07:15:53 AM »

When someone passes on, like Uncle Ernie, what happens to his account and all the posts he made? Will they still be here for those of us who might like to go back once in a while and read them? Or will his account page be deleted, taking the ability to look those posts up, with it? I am wondering, because I just spent some time going to Uncle's member listing and looking up some of his past posts and it was really quite an experience and a reminder of his character. After all, he WAS a pretty big part of this place and his input isn't something that ends up slipping away and never to be seen again. That's just MY opinion.  ;)

Bill, as far as I know, account maintenance (to include deletion of 'inactives') is a manual process and doesn't happen all that often or, another way of putting it, it takes some time for it to happen. I will draw Glenn's attention to your post.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

Thanks Bob, Uncle was quite a character and a big part of this place, would be a shame to lose all of that. I appreciate any efforts on this. ;)

I have not been here long, and would hate to miss the opportunity to read his posts. Maybe fallen comrades should be exempt (based on what they have contributed) from inactivity deletion.

You bring up some interesting points.

I vote we keep his post.

Glenn has confirmed that the process to remove inactive accounts is entirely manual and only affects inactive accounts with less than ten posts. UE's account is here for good.  ;)
