Recomendations on a vinyl restorer?
« on: June 23, 2011, 08:08:19 PM »
I still have the original 1975 seat for my 550K1 that looks almost like new as I took it off after just a few months after purchase for a custom seat.  The custom seat is not too stylish these days so I plan to put the original seat back on.  My concern is that the vinyl might tend to split in use due to hardening over the years in storage.  Anybody know of a good conditioner to use on it?

I was told nu vinyl but haven't located any.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

I like what Nu Vinyl does for seats.  Don't know about restoring vinyl, but it seems to protect it pretty well, keeping it soft and pliable.

It's not too slippery to sit on either.

If Nu Vinyl is made by the same company that makes Nu Leather it should be a top notch product...Larry

Well, it seems we have a unanimous decision.  How rare is that on this forum?  Guess I will be finding some nu-vinyl and giving it a try.  A quick google found their company web pages and where to buy it.

I will have to check that out.  I have seen it.  For regular maintenance and cleaning I have used Mequires Leather Wipes.  I use it on everything - vinyl, paint, chrome, plastic, wiring,,,everything.  It is a great quick and nice wipe down stuff.

Sounds like the nu-vinyl is some good heavy duty stuff.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.
