New Horse in the stable
« on: June 23, 2011, 06:27:54 PM »
I just purchased a real nice all original k0 cb500 gold and black.  It has been sitting in a garage since the late 70's.   Very complete with vintage fairing and sidebags and almost no fading to the paint or gauges.  I just bought it today so I haven't had the time to get the carbs cleaned ,synced ,valve adj. ,oil change, so I am not sure how it runs.   I am very familiar with 750's not 500's what can some of you tell me about my bike, good, bad, tips,or tricks.  I have been doing some reading about them here.  But some input would be nice too.  thanks guys!

CB 500 and CB 550 k models are very great bikes to ride, and very collectable, especially the K0. Clutch issue is mentioned, but rarly a real problem.

+1

I love my bike, and the clutch problem is not as prevalent as people make it sound.  I believe it has much more to do with the bike's maintenance history, and rider abuse.  It's basically the same tranny as in the earlier CB/CL350's.  My bike was not treated very well by her PO's, and she's smooth as glass 98% of the time.
