Oil pump rebuild ?'s (cb750)
« on: June 24, 2011, 04:34:00 PM »
im rebuilding my oil pump on 74 CB 750. Took it all apart ---cleaned it up real nice, measured clearences (fine), relief valves seems to be smooth, new gasket and o rings...but... The 4 rotors ea have a dot stamped on them... is there a reason for these / a particular way to align these/there must be a reason for them. I dry fitted it all back together : first time the rotors got stuck on the first revolution.... so i took it all apart : reassembled and now it seems to turn fine. Any other gotchas I should look out for on the oil pump???

thanks in Advance....and I love this forum!... u guys have been so helpful in my rebuild !!

As I recall the dots should line up: the dotted inner lobe in the dotted outer ... antilobe?

thanks guys....  live and learn I guess : of course I didnt keep track of the exact fitting so i could re-assemble in the exact way (rookie mistakes- that I continue to make). Seems to spin good and free now...im gonna go with it and hope for the best.
