Cover recommendations???
« on: June 22, 2011, 12:02:32 PM »
Hey all, I'm new to the site so first off, let me say hello!
I'm looking for a great weatherproof cover for my 1977 CB550 and in doing a quick search, am already overwhelmed at the options and the crappy options out there. Any advice on brands etc. would be great!
Thanks!

Welcome aboard!

I've been thinking about getting a cover too for a while, and what I've found is that you'll want something that breathes- lets moisture out so it doesn't condensate on the inside of the cover and cause corrosion.

Happy trails.

I love the one I bought a couple of weeks ago it is a large size and fits a cb550K like a glove. Even with the steeering locked. It's durable has air vents and is pretty water proof. Now for the life of me I can't remember the brand name. I'll post it when I get home. I think I paid about $75 but that's from a local shop so online would be cheaper.

Update: Nelson-Rigg brand. Nice cover. Large size fits a CB550 great.

I had a Dowco cover on my Enfield and later my FJ that was still in good shape after 3 years of outdoor storage (I live in a condo without a garage). It was very well ventilated via triangular plastic vents to help prevent condensation. I did find that I had to re-waterproof the fabric after a couple years.

They sell for $60-$70, a very worthwhile expense if you have to store your bike outside like I do.

I bought one of those cheap covers off ebay for a penny plus shipping($14 bucks in total)I wasn't holding my breath for anything fantastic and figured at worst it would make a good dust cover for winter storage. 2 months later I am remarkably surpried that it has lasted this long without problems using it daily.

Update:

Nelson-Rigg Cover: For CB550 buy a large size fits great. Not sure how much bigger a CB750 is physically.

Save yourself $25 by buying online.

Yeah I use a blue tarp and bricks to hold it down haha

You made me think about it after I cheered knowing someone else would like to know what these control freaks are up to.

What bothers them is they sat up late at night, their breast full of wonder and estrogen, unable to sleep, dreaming about their lovely darling and all her glory... and next thing you know someone else doesn't share their emotional deluge and their reaction is they must spread their mind museum as far as they possibly can, taking over as much of the real world as possible.
