Anyone heard from firecracker lately, He lives in Norman Oklahoma and that's where one tornado was on the ground this evening already (and another one by Washington, Oklahoma). There have already been 2 confirmed dead, from those 2) These storms are headed for Fort Smith and there is another part that is headed for the Greenwood area, but haven't heard about any details of that one yet. My Prayers go out for all in the path of these storms.

I sent firecracker a PM, but haven't heard anything yet.

It's going to be a bad night for a lot of people in tornado alley.  We've got a tornado-producing storm bearing down on us right now in the DFW area.  I'm watching it on weather.com to see if we're going to get a direct hit where I am.

At least this is the last of it for a little while.  Once this front finally blows through tonight/tomorrow it's clear weather for the time being.

Whoa Gordon, I had completely forgotten that you had moved there. Good to know that you are getting on, with these storms popping up now and then.

Well, Sirens are going of here in Greenwood. Have been since 11PM and we are under a tornado warning til at least midnight. So far, it's just been rain and some wind. Fort Smith is supposed to be getting damaging winds as well. Gonna be a long night, so it seems. Still Praying for all those in the paths of these storms.

I was watching that stuff come through in Norman. Made a couple posts on dive bar.

It got Goldsby just south of Norman, I hear, right through the small downtown.

Hope it didn't do much damage there. We just got through it ourselves. Got some pretty heavy winds and heavy rain, but the sirens have stopped and it is just raining now. So, it seems we have gotten through yet another one. Thank God.

I saw at least five of the red watch boxes on the radar arounf Ft Smith just now.

Norman is mostly oK as far as major damage. I think some debris fell nearby.

We had the sirens with verbal warnings, but it seems the worst of it went around us here North of Dallas.

I grew up in North Texas and am no stranger to severe thunderstorms and tornado warnings, but I think this disaster in Joplin, MO has really driven home the fact that this could happen to any of us at any time in this part of the country.  It makes it much more apparent that the threat is real, because Joplin is Anytown, USA.  Many of us have family there, or know somebody who lives there, or have spent time there at some point in their lives.  It's a familiar town whether you've been there or not.

I'm not any more afraid of a possible tornado now than I was before, because if it's going to happen it's going to happen, but I'll be much more obedient of the warnings we get when we do get them.

Glad to know that you all made it through okay, we're sitting about 12 miles South of Fort Smith and what came through here, didn't really do much until it reached a small town of Denning, Arkansas. We were fortunate, but some of them weren't. So sad!

Whether it's more advanced media and perspective ot if conditions are changing where these things actually are more frequent and severe, it does kind of make you pucker up when one gets within a dozen miles or so, especially if you are on the lee side of the storm.

I was coming west bound from OKC to Lawton on I-44 and it looked incredible. The state troopers close the highway for 45 minutes. I was stuck at the halfway rest stop between Chickasha and New Castle. It was pretty scary because it look like a hurricane from where I was. I feel bad for the victims and family of the casualties.

I tried to follow the path of the Chickasha/ GOLDSBY tornado, if they are the same ...maybe.

Saw some scoured landscapes, uprooted trees wrapped with metal that landed out of nowhere, collapsed houses, shredded prefabs. One house looked prety grim for anyone  home and not in the fallen chimney,(as  if that might have helped).

Geez, I hope you're alright, too, scunny. I hear of more aftershocks in Christchurch.  Is the pub still standing?

I was around the area yesterday and the city is working really fast on the recovery of the damage.
