Exhaust Studs?
« on: May 15, 2020, 08:24:08 AM »
Read through some exhaust stud conversion posts and not readily seeing the answer for standard K models: Anyone know the correct stud length for converting to exhaust studs on a CB750K5? I have an aftermarket 4 into 2 exhaust, but using the original flanges.

Do I need washers? Or are M8 flanged nuts good?

Does the grade of SS matter?

Reading that 8x32 (Part No.  92900-08032-0E) was used for the F models starting in 75. F models don’t have the flange that K models do. So guessing 32mm isn’t right.

Seeing that someone used 40mm on a K model, but it’s a shade short (see link below). Maybe 45mm would be right or 50mm?

Thanks CalJ737!

Seeing the recommendation is not to double nut to tighten. Guessing I finger tighten the stud then torque the nut. Anyone know torque specs on SS 8mm?

I don't recall the length but if I remember correctly I used longer studs and cut them to the length I needed. Dress the end you cut off and screw them in so they don't look like sh!t. I got mine at a wrecking yard from a row of import cars. Intake manifold studs and flanged nuts.
