Painted 750 K1 Tins ... Are they worth the price??
« on: June 26, 2011, 02:31:01 PM »
I found on e-bay the following 750 K1 items for $1,500: tank (no hardware), headlight bucket, both fork ears (no reflectors) and both side covers (no emblems).  They were recently painted candy red and the inside of the tank was coated.  From the photos they look very nice.  Are they worth the $1,500?

You can have that done by a professional for half that price.

Agreed...if you have the parts he is double what it would cost. I just had those parts done in candy gold by a reputable body shop that does excellent candy and cost was $700. This guy did my candy ruby red too. Check around and find someone who is familiar with the candy process.

agree with the above posters. i recently had a front fender chopped, then the same fender, the seat pan and the tank painted, all for $800. paint was a base color with two tank logos. a proper candy coat would probably add a bit to the cost, but $1500 still seems somewhat expensive.

that said, i havent priced tins in a while so maybe they make up the difference.
