I just installed a set of Hagon 2810 shocks on my CB750K2 and thought it would be useful to provide some user feedback as these were custom made to accommodate the eye-cleavis.

Purchased from David Quinn Motorcycles. Superb service and fast turnaround. He was in contact the with UK Hagon factory about customising a set of 2810 shocks for the CB750 and they said no problem.

Here are the new Hagons installed:

No problem with chain guard clearance

10 click Adjustable dampening

On the bike - sits a little taller.

Initial impressions from 3 mile ride on bumpy Boston roads - HUGE improvement!!! Firm, crisp handling. Need to play with the settings but much better than what I had.

Will update after more serious miles. Thanks also to Voxonda and others for some good info when I was debating which shock to buy.

Congrats Andy!

I can definitely +1 Dave Quinn. Great to speak with on the phone - full of info for me. I got their cheaper set for the 550 and it has definitely been an improvement. Granted, just about anything would have been, but a welcomed change on the roads here in NYC.

Got the headlight and installed it the other day. Thanks for the tip!

Also installed new front brake system (stock MC replaced janky aftermarket one, new caliper piston, steel braided hoses, etc).

Next up is the fork rebuild with the progressive springs and seals, as well as steering bearings. That will put me out of the loop for a bit, but hopefully will be the last big fox I plan for this bike. The rest will just be cosmetic (finally!).

Hey Andy, I was looking into Hagon shocks for my 750 and was wondering the length of the 2810 shocks you chose. I emailed Dave Quinn and they have some type A road shocks in 14.2" which I feel might be too long. I also like the extra adjustable damping on the 2810's. Also how do you like those compared to the progressives on your k4? Thanks

The lengths are the same as stocks. The springs are a bit stiff but I like them so far. The progressives on the other hand with the heavy springs have always felt too soft to me but they do a decent enough job of absorbing bumps.

So not enough miles on the Hagons yet to say for sure but so far like them fine. Feels much more stable and planted than the 82 CB750 shocks I had on before. You notice a huge difference straight away!

Tree - good to hear from you! I am planning on sending the springs back as they were too harsh for me - waiting for the riding to decrease first though! So Ill likely have a more accurate report with new springs. However, I think for the money Id get the regular Hagons - not sure the adjustable dampening is doing much.

Hi Andy, the stiffer springs will effect how the dampening works. When you have better rate springs you should be able to "feel" the difference in the dampening rates.... I was going to explain how the dampening works but i am sure you already know....

Not yet. I have now changed tires to better fit the wider Buchanan rim so I think I have a good base with which to start. New shocks, new tires, new front springs, swingarm bushings replaced...now for some serious road testing

did I miss an update, Hagon 2810's have been recommended to me by the retailer, I asked for a price for Ikon dial a rides and asked him for any suggestions of alternatives. I want to end up in the middle hopefully of spring rate and then can play with the dampening. thoughts ?

Hey Scunny

No update was missed as I let it slip sorry about that!

Updates: I found the 2810s with 26kg springs a little too stiff for my road racer K2 even with changing the dampening and spring preload (and having one spring change already). Great for firm race-track style handling but a little firm for the bumpy New England roads. That was with the tomesseli bars. However after knee surgery this year I changed the bars for Euro bars to make the bike a little more comfortable and it has changed the ride for me. I now sit a little further back so more load on the rear shocks and this has helped. I was going to try the Ikons based on others reports, but will stick with the 2810s for now. Not a ringing endorsement I know but overall satisfied rather than blown away.

You should also read forum member Nic impressions of the Hagon 2810 - he didnt like them and ended up going for the Ikons.

cheers Andy. just been looking around but knew where I was heading anyway. got a good quote from Ikon Australia to match the springs for my wee pony and ship the shocks. 3-4 week lead time, but that's all good, bloody freezing here at the mo which means not going far just yet.

AHA! The global cooling is here due to mankind's all capitalistic sins. Increase taxes on meat, gasoline, beer and whatever the vegans will invent and we'll be saved.....
