part suppliers
« on: August 12, 2011, 06:02:12 AM »
Hello everyone, I just purchased a 77 cb550 and she needs a little bit of help.  Does anyone have a parts supplier they recommend?  I took the carbs off and the gaskets need to be replaced.  I was also wondering what the second from the left fuse is for ( elec. schematics are not my cup of tea)?  If I remember, it's a 7amp and was out of the bike when I bought it.  Any help is greatly appreciated!  BTW, I can't remember the last time I was so excited about something....oh yeah, the last time I bought a bike!!!!

In the FAQ forum, there is a "Where Can I buy Parts" thread. Suggest you start there.

you could try here,
http://www.partsnmore.com/
or here, partsnmore I think has a minimum order of $30 or $35 though. Or you could look on ebay, look under po boy carb kits, the guys name is georgefix I have bought many things from him, good to work with, super fast shipping also, and priced right.

Not 100% sure on the 550 I think it like my 750 15a=main 7a=headlight 5a=tail light. Is your head light working?

Heffe a check for the fuse put fuse in turn on light if it comes on good then turn off light remove fuse and turn on light no light good. sometimes if you pull the fuse with the light on it can pop the fuse.

Headlight works, but my running light on the taillight does not however, but it does come on when you turn the key to the "park" setting.

You need make sure you have the proper wiring for the back turn signals and brake light... There is a great diagram on this site to help you find what wire goes to what... Very simple..
