Which numbers don't match? If you are referring to the frame vs. the engine numbers, they never do.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

According to the chart CB750-1044650 frame number was the beginning of K-1 on 09/21/70. I double checked those numbers with the Mark Haycock book "Honda CB750" and they are the same!

Put up your frame serial number. X out the last 2 digits if your not comfortable doing so. I have a 5-70 in the garage with frame # CB750-1036XXX

According to here:  http://www.motorera.com/honda/h0750/four.htm

the K0's began with CB750-1000001

the K1's began with CB750-1044650.

No mention made of a calendar date.  I think you might be getting off track on the build date and the "release date" that gets kicked around.  I guess I'd go with the frame serial number as to whether it's a K0 or not.
