Cam identification
« on: July 07, 2011, 08:13:39 AM »
I checked the FAQ section and saw a lot about cam chains but nothing on identifying the cam,
So...my junkyard bike had a 836 wiseco kit in it (locked up, so hot it welded the rings to the cylinder wall) which would lead me to believe that the cam would have been changed too. How do I ID the cam?

look at the numbers on the end behind washer, or on a flat pad on the side.
measure the lift or max lobe diameter.
Always a good idea to check & RECORD valve clearances, sometimes you find an oddball cam..way better than Guessing the clearances..
