So this is strange...yesterday I changed the chain on my K2 since the old RK chain had a tight link at one section of the chain. I had bought a Tsubaki Omega o-ring chain  - 102 links. Written on the box very clearly.  When we went to put it on turns out it was too long and after adjustment its already at 3/4 of the way on the markers so hardly any room for adjustment! Counted the chain and sure enough its 102 links???

This is a stock K2 with stock swingarm, 48 rear and 17 front sprockets. Wheel is stock size. Chain that came off was a 102 and it was not this far adjusted when it had to be replaced. What gives?? I have used Tsubaki Sigma chains in the past with no issue. Very bizarre!

Any ideas?

thanks
Andy

AFAIK, stock chain length should be 100 links.

76 and down should be 100 links.
Tsubali are pre-stretched I believe may make it look even longer.
I think I put a 100 link on a 74 750, and it was all the way forward, and tight, I dont think it was prestretched. (When they are not on a cheap chain they usually need adjustment very quickly)

Clearly I am idiot! I have been ordering 102 or 104 link chains for years in the belief it was 102 links. I even searched the forum before ordering and found my old posts about chain length! I just checked my parts manual for a K5 and sure enough 100 links....

I stand humbled...thanks for the correction Gordon and 754!

cheers
Andy

Andy, did you do a mod to get the o-ring type to work, or do 750s have no trouble with them?  I know the 550s have the issue of not being able to accept them.

I thought I had read somewhere about a mod though, just curious if you had any experience with this.

Hey Scott

The 750 has no clearance issues with o-ring or x-ring chains...only the 550 has issues. Sorry!
