Alot of these guys won't hesitate to spend a couple grand on a pedal bike. So a bigger bike with no pedals and an engine can easily seem like  a great deal to them.

I always thought the contrast was interesting when seeing their pedal bikes parked next to my 750. With what I paid for it.. you could buy 3 of mine for the cost of one of theirs!  :D

This is way true. I hadn't thought about that before.  I bought my mountain bike for $300ish (it's decent, no real bells and whistles) and was seeing full suspension bikes going for $2000-4000.  Compare that to my 650, netted for $450 and the bike=motorbike thing kinda starts making sense.

You dont pay too much, you just bought too soon!

But the sooner you get, the longer you get to enjoy it! How many riders that got into it later on, dont regret starting earlier..?

Trendy?.. that rubs off.. or is it R.U.B.s off? More exposure of CBs, just means more interest.. tired of it, next person is waiting to buy. One of the only things that will hurt that, is if they start making them again.. but they wont make em the same.. so we are safe!

Another great example of what isnt a cafe.....

Without getting into the ideas and such of a "true" cafe its just getting old when people poorly install $50 in parts to a stock bike and want 3X the stock price....

That and these "barn finds" Im sick of sellers telling me that there is nothing to worry about with a bike that sat for 30+ years as long as the motor turns.....

First time buyers also have this delusion that they will wrench on their bike and do all the maint.  They generally think that because something is 30+ years old, it'll be a lot easier to learn to do that.  There IS some truth to it.. but some falsehoods also. (go play Frogger or any other vintage arcade games, they are not any easier now, than they were for you 30 years ago even tho they are MUCh simpler than current video games).

I've seen quite a few 70's bikes on CL with "father son project, son not interested."
I bet if he bought his kid a gsxr/cbr/zx to fix up it'd be a different story.

And in Oakland I've notice the old style purple rain Kawasakis bikes with the huge fairing and speakers everywhere  are showing up with the OG's.

Intersting.  I never thought that look would come back.  But the OG crowd tends to be flagerent.

Who needs to lane-split when you can just fly right over the traffic? ;D
