Harley style 18" rim?
« on: April 27, 2006, 06:03:32 AM »
Hi!

As I want to respoke my wheels, I would like some wide-a** rim on it :)

Like this Kawasaki here...

Any idea?
How exactly do you teach abstinence though?
It's like beating a dead cow, it's fun, but it doens't really get you anywhere.

Not sure how wide you can go, without rubbing issues.
That tire on that Kawi looks pretty damn wide.

Maybe an custom widened swingarm is in your future ?

I don't want to go to those lenghts for that!

Just want the widest 18" inch option possible

I like that size rim / tire also!  I am going to mock-up my 750 cafe to see how wide we can go with the stock swingarm.  Is that a 18 rear?  what about the front...

I don't recall the sizes, but it looks like the front wheel is smaller than the rear...

maybe if we knew the front disk diameter we could use as a ref and measure the rim diameter...

But where can I get it?

I'm not sure why wheels and tires are such a mystery on here.  I posted also looking for specs on the widest possible wheels and tires for a stock CB750 K using stock hubs and got little info:

At this point I'm going to mock everything up and see what I can get away with taking into consideration chain and swing arm clearance.  My buddy brought up a good point, not to forget about tire expansion after warm up.  I'll post some results and photos once I get around to the mock up...  Someone else on here must have gone through this exercise!

ok, rant over!  :D

sent a msg to this guy, apparently he is runnin a 150 on the rear of this.... but you cant on the rear disc models cos the brake stay is in the way.... so if you want wide on the rear, need to relocate the brake stay, or use the drum.... peace

sweet!  I plan to use a K frame with a drum for that old school look on my cafe.  Let's see if we can get specs on that rim / wheel combo.  Looks awesome!
