1978 cb750 rear brake rebuild?
« on: July 06, 2011, 03:51:43 PM »
Does this look rebuildable? The shaft is very loose and wobbly...lots of rust...no compression. buy a used one and rebuild that or try to rebuild this? thanks

rebuild it. Mine looked worse than that and works fine. Those are pretty hard to find.

You are not there yet grasshopper. ;D  That's just the pushrod and it will be loose.  They can also tend to be a bit corroded as muck builds up in the boot.  Get the c clip off and the pushrod and washer should come out as it is not connected but just meets the piston with a ball and socket type joint.  The piston may or may not be stuck up inside the bore.  This pic shows the internals for my 76 750F minus the c clip and boot.  Different MC but the parts are very similar if not the same.  You will know more when you get it completely apart.

I've been posting this crappy picture a few times lately.  I need to get a better one. ;D
