1977 CB750A wiring schematic needed
« on: July 13, 2011, 04:39:28 PM »
I got the one from oldmanhonda and it shows points ignition.  My 77 is factory electronic ignition and I am bobbing it with a new harness and will need the correct diagram.  Anybody have one?  I will gladly trade one of my custom bobber schematics for your time.  Thanks guys.

Ummm...I think you have some sort of aftermarket electronics, there... (?)
The first electronic ignition I recall in the Fours came in the CB650 bikes. I don't ever remember seeing Honda electronic in any of the SOHC4 750s. However, there were adaptations of Kawi's KZ1000 electronics, as well as the Dyna S and Dyna III, starting in 1974 or so. And of course, the Martek, if you could afford to keep one running. :(

for what it's worth - just parted out a 78 hondamatic a couple of weeks ago and it had standard k style points and condensers.

King In the mid 80s I had a 77 750Auto bought it from my dad original owner it had points I don't believe he changed it. You need to find out what you have or change it back. Or get it working does it work or what? any marking?Pictures?

edit: with all the bikes you do I'm sure there is a points plate set up over there under that box full of stuff you just can't throw a way ;D

I have a picture in the above post and was hoping someone could identify it as factory, or which aftermarket.  The black wire is the only mystery to me, I am sure the blue and yellow are stock to the coils.  Usually, pointless ignition has some sort of box to interface with the stock coils but all the boxes on my harness are factory right down to the rubber isolator mounts.  The Hondamatic is an odd ball electrically with many differences from the K and F models.  I may just run switched power to the black wire and crank her over and look for spark.  I just prefer not to go in blind like that.
