Lost an O-ring from my chain - should I care?
« on: June 30, 2011, 06:36:58 PM »
nit-picky question:

An O-ring fell off while I was wiping down my chain - it split & came off.
Should I care?
I mean, it's not fixable and it's likely gonna be the weak link someday but it's not like it's gonna fail in 10 miles right?
The chain is in good shape otherwise w/ about 5,000mi on it.

The o-rings are there to help keep dirt out and lube in.
The chain isn't going anywhere soon.
Just do the usual maintainance and you should be fine.

dont panic, itll be fine,do you run a clip type master link?if you really wanted,,you could add another in that spot thus fitting an oring back into the circle.
