Topic: Clutch not disengaging when hot

Hey everyone, I've got a '76 cb550F, did a clutch overhaul about 2-3k miles ago(all new OEM steel and fiber plates and a new cable) and it was running fantastic until this weekend when I've developed a new issue. When cold, the clutch works fantastically, and engages/disengages properly, but now when it starts to get hot the clutch will no longer disengage all the way when I come to a stop. The bike won't creep on me, but getting out of first is impossible unless i rev the bike up to 2.5-3k and then I can force it out but usually end up popping it into second once it gives.

I've tried playing with the cable and adjustment at the cover and don;t seem to be having any luck. Any ideas as to what's happening? I didn't change my springs out with the plates, could that be the issue?

not to start an oil thread but,,,how old and what oil are you using?

It is possible that it is an oil pressure issue and can be remedied following the instructions on this thread:

I'm running 10-40 Honda oil straight from the dealer. The oil is probably 2kish old, but thanks to my leaks it's in a it's instant cycle of being replaced.

I'll take a look at the FAQ this afternoon on my computer
