Who is hoarding the K8 Carb Kits!?!?!
« on: April 27, 2006, 02:29:13 PM »
I need two more K8 carb kits.
bought 2 a couple weeks ago and installed them. I've been waiting for the other two to be back in stock. I've contacted 15 companies, from sirius to motorcyclecarbs.com and no one has them because their supplier (Keyster) is out of stock. I shouldn't use K7 or the F's , because the K7's and F's main jet is smaller than the K8's, and I've already installed 2 of the correct kits anyway.
So who out there has a basement full of K8 carb kits!?!?! C'mon- fess up! You can't hold on to them forever!
Seriously, I'll be happy to buy 2 kits from someone if you have them...

are you changing out everything? needles and jets?  if not, partsnmore has the seals which are the same size. You should be able to use 77 parts. They should be identical other than the 77 has slots on the needle like the earlier carbs do.

All the kits list a smaller main jet for the K7. The jets and seals and gaskets in the bike now are junked up. I've been down this road before, I'm not going to bother soaking the jets. Plus, my pilot screws were leaking, my float valves were sticking, etc. etc. thus the need for a new kit. I tried partsnmore and z1 in addition to the aforementioned sites, additionally, I've even checked with DK, DSS and JCW with no luck. They all say the same thing..."out of stock, 3-4 weeks before delivery" I also called two dealerships.

odd, right now on parts n more they show them in stock but I guess you never know. the seals all look good. On our site, on the main page, the 77 lists having 115 mains. This is actually larger than the 78, we use 110. with the same for lows on both. kits for the 78 are hard to find under good conditions though.

yup, you're right about the jet sizes. In fact, the K8 is the only one that uses that size I think. I'm looking at partsnmore right now but don't see a kit for the K8.
And I have money scattered all over the internet, awaiting refunds from places that have told me after-the-fact that they are in stock, only to find out they are backordered, which is kind of why I was hoping someone might see this and sell me the 2 kits they have under their mattress or something.
Thanks for all the due diligence, I appreciate it.
