Gasket sets, which is best?
« on: November 24, 2015, 07:11:41 PM »
Hi guys, wifey agreed to buy some CB parts for Christmas, what in your opinion is best complete gasket set out there? Been trying to read some threads but most are quite outdated, CycleX looks like they have a nice set with oil seals, what's your take on those? Thanks in advance, Fred.

Hey, I used a Vesrah top end gasket kit on my CB750 and haven't had any issues yet... (knock on wood). I did make sure the head surface was very clean and copper coated the head gasket. But even the valve seals, valve cover gasket, etc has been leak free. This was my first time building one of these engines so I haven't used any other types yet. I'm sure there are some that are better. Good Luck ,

Dont know if its BEST, but i used Vesrah on my last build, and its holding up fine.
gaskets really only seal 'flat' surfaces, so i don think you could go wrong with any as long as your surfaces are in good condition.
Id suggest HONDA brand oil seals, and careful attention to cam tower puck thickness.

Anyone ever used these old Top-Line gasket kits? The price is both appealing and disturbing at the same time.

Yes I think that is the one I used in my 500, and have no probs so far - I figured they would be OK as they are made in Japan!!?
