will do ! But let's first see if there's any member offering ... as I too am looking for some time now ;-)
NOS shows up on Ebay sometimes, but at crazy prices ( at least for me - it's a hobby - albeit a costly one ).

I haven't got any CL77 dampers anywhere I'm afriad. I can supply a modern damper with internal rod like these (as oppose to the usual modern pass through rod design) but that's about it.

Jimmy - you should save a search on ebay for those petcocks they do come up regularly. Alternatively you could try David Silver or CSMNL?

LMP, Ive been searchin Ebay forever... well at least it feels like it.. just like my build  ;D ;D
Anyways, my buddy Nap AKA napoleonb hooked me up with a really nice one.... my plan was to go through CSMNL but then I might aswell cast one myself in gold or Titanium  ::) ;D

Did you ever see their prices on the CR rep. parts???  http://www.cmsnl.com/products/full-spec-complete-race_crbi04/  3K Euro for what to be looking like the Bartel gas tank!!! or choose the intire kit for 32K Euro!!! :-X :-X

Hi to all;

Honda does not make it anymore, or so it seems.

- Cmnsl does not offer it ( otherwhise it would be 103 euro - I would buy a new one from them for that )
- David Silver does not offer it.
- tried a lot of local suppliers + google to no avail; hence my shout here.

Hi Sander,

There is on up on ebay at the moment, doesn't look to pricy to me.
Otherwise you can try and mail to the following supplier (if it is still in stock over there)
http://www.parts-planet.com/products.html?action=showitems&keywords=&begin=3748&maker=21

I have been looking everywhere in our little country but also without succes, I settled for the LMP solution.

Hi Nap,

thnx for the tips.
The pic I posted i actually from that offer.
The one you mention cost 250 dollar + 40 dollar is 290 USD (+ import fees ! ).
I estimate the total will go well over 300 USD.

That's more then I am willing to spend/I do find that too costly for that specific part, and he's not open for bidding.

Ps.
The link you provided show all info in Russian on their homepage and no contact info ?

Hi Sander,

Sorry mate, didn't notice the rest of the site was in Russian.
The register form is in English so you could give it a try my guess is that they will send you a login code by email.
Using http://nl.babelfish.yahoo.com/translate_txt you should be able to translate the site although i wasn't able to find an email address.

Good luck!

Sorry Guys.........I've been out riding my bike with my daughter for the last few days............I have a few of the CL77 steering dampners in my stash.........I restore those bikes and always looking for AFFORDABLE parts.  In the past 2 years I have been paying more to acquire the dampeners so if you looking for decent units that will need some polishing and are not perfect in the dampening process (maybe someone can figure out how to rebuild them) I have them at $50 each plus shipping cost.  Two are already promised (Sam & CR750)

Anyone else?.............I will keep acquiring units as I find them.

As has been said, those dampers ARE pretty few and far between. I looked for quite awhile for one to put on my Super Hawk Cafe Build and finally got a nice one, not too badly priced. I am needing to come up with the lower CL mount for the thing, myself. I don't see a problem attaching it to the lower triple tree.  ;)

The damping on the one I have leaves something to be desired, not too surprising really considering it's 40+ years old. however, pulling back the rubber it appears that it may be possible to dismantle it as there are four small holes in the end of the damper body that presumably were used to put it together with a special tool. So the question is, has anyone tried to refurbish these dampers with any success?
Thanks

Eric, it might be worth having a word with Ron Williams at Maxton, he might be able to help, worth a try.

Nothing ventured nothing gained. Thanks Sam, I'll give him a try. There is also Rob Evans of Kernow Shocks down in Cornwall who refurbishes shock absorbers. He did a spiffing job on a pair of Kawasaki H1 shocks for me, so that's another possibility.
Cheers

I am actually gonna have a go at refurbishing one, whith the victem ( severely broken one for all purists out there) kindly donated by old scrambler. It's still over the oceans somewhere but as soon as I have a go at it I'll report back.

I think opening one up will not be the hard part.
But it might be that there's some part in there which I can't replicate easily, but I hope with my Emco Lathe and Mill, it should be possible to whip up most parts in pom/nylon/brass as good or better then the original. Let's hope there's no rubber specialities in there as those are not easily replicated.
