1973 CB750F. Said to be in great shape, 25,800miles for $1800. A bit too heavy for the owner.

That bike has the wrong sidecover, its been repainted the seat is screwed up, Mac slip on etc. I'd offer 750.00 at the most. I could have bought a super clean 1987 FJ1200, 13,000 miles garage kept etc for 1900.00 several weeks. It was original and in excellent condition. Just for perspective.

Hey all, I appreciate the feedback and from what you all have said, I am beginning to wonder if this is a 750K that has some of the F parts, like the gas tank and the seat. Is that possible. you see, NOW I am realizing that the aluminum footrest brackets aren't there either.

The listing didn't SAY it was an "F", I just took it that it was, because of the look. Thanks for the wakeup call.

This one is about 2hrs away, easy drive, but now, I'm wondering just what it is. It DOES seem to be in great shape and is said to be a good runner w/ a clear title.

That is a 75 or 76 "F" model. Looks like just the right side passenger footpeg is missing, the bracket is there (it is different than the 77-78 "F" models). The chain also looks pretty close to the centerstand. Make sure it's not rubbing if you plan to ride it home. The stock pipe usually has the centerstand stop, aftermarket pipes often require a supplemental "L" bracket, I mounted mine at the left side passenger footrest.

If the frame plate indicates a 73' K-model then look at the other side of the steering neck. The numbers are stamped in the frame and should match what's on the number plate. Looks like too much work to swap all the "F" parts to an earlier "K" frame and I'll bet that if the number plate says "73' K-Model" that the number plate will not match the numbers stamped on the other side of the steering neck.

I'm beginning to wonder about this one. I guess MAYBE they got the year wrong, when making up the listing? Says it has a clear title and has "absolutely Nothing wrong with it". Says, it kinda big and heavy for him and he just wants his money back out of it. IF I WERE to get it, I'd be putting it on a trailer, to get it home. Mike (MRieck) has told me to shot for a lower price and look elsewhere, if they won't come down on the price. I'm not as up on these models, except that I've always liked the look of the 750, especially the "F" and I need to get more familiar with the specifics of these. Thanks for your input here too. Bill

No, I don't have the VIN, I just came across it on a classified, a little bit ago. I AM seeing more, that shows it is the "F" model and thank YOU for your input as well.

Looks to be a very fair example of a 75 or 76 "F". If the listing was a simple misprint, then it dependes on how much you've got to spend. Often the less expensive examples suffer higher levels of neglect and/or abuse. Make an offer, all they can say is "no". Maybe start at $1200.00?

Oh, by the way, I see that the right side passenger footpeg is intact.

Only 2 hrs. away take a drive with your trailer and give it a good going over. Pictures can fool you, so see it with your on eyes. A 75 or 76 750F with clear title and fairly low miles the price there asking is not really out of line to much in my opinion. If the engine sounds good offer him $1200 and if he balks at that tell him $1500 tops and then if he still want go for it than its your decision if you want to pay his price. I guess it all comes down to how bad do you want it. These bikes are getting harder and harder to find especially the shape this one seems to be in, so if everything checks out and its what you want even if you have to pay his price if it was me I would probably load it up and bring it home. Let us know how it goes Bill.

Well, it would be tight for me to go for it. The "F" IS one I'd like to have. I Know that, I have to make my mind up as to whether to try for it or not and do that quickly. Appreciate the input here. It's just that you NEVER see these bikes anywhere near here, you know?

Yeah, I HAVE to decide if I want to chance it or not. I've got an '80 CB750K and IT is a pretty good runner, but I've never had a 750 SOHC except for the CB750A I have that my Dad had bought, to fix up. I haven't even touched it, since I got it here, some time ago. My Dad was about 82 when he bought it and wanted to get back into motorcycles. He quickly realized he just wasn't able to do that now. Be kinda tight for me to go for it, but I might give send them an email (as he had requested, in the listing) and see how that comes out and decide whether to go from there or not.

In the front view the gauges and headlight don't line up well with the handlebars and wheel. Maybe it's no biggie but be sure to check it out.

Yeah Don, I was noticing that too, hopefully it's just the angle of the forks. I just got through sending an email to see about setting up an appointment to check it out. Now, it's just a matter of waiting to see how THAT comes out.

Something is really tweaked on the front end. Look at the turn signals on the last pic taken from the riders perspective. On the F the instruments, headlight, and turn signals are mounted to the forks on an integrated bracket, for the lack of a better description. Could be this is what is tweaked and it may not be the forks. Give the front end a careful check. I don't think that bike is worth $1800. For that money I would expect one to be correct and with only minor cosmetic issues. But depending on where you are your prices may vary.

$1200 if the front end turns out to be only a cosmetic or minor issue.

From the look of the purple kill switch it may have a newer right hand control so that's a plus and you won't have the starter button failure.

Thanks for that, I will be sure to give the front end (and the whole bike, for that matter) the once over.

I think the out of alignment look, is from the forks not being straight ahead, but I COULD be wrong. I'll sure check that out, if I get over there to see the bike and see for myself. One question I DO have, for those who would know, why am I seeing a screw on top of the headlight, is the headlight on upside down? Is that possible? See for your selves, am I right about this?

The more I look at that picture, the more it DOES look like things are out of alignment. Could it just be that the clamp bolts on the tree, need to be loosened and things lined back up?

Headlight is right side up but it is pointing down to far I think and maybe a bit off center. It might have taken a hit on the right side turn signal. The bar they mount to is pretty solid and while it does look bent it could have also bent the mounting bracket for the headlight and instruments. He may have mounted another turn signal but left everything bent out of alignment.

Well, whatever it is, IF I get to go and check this one out, I WILL be addressing that and maybe can use that as a bargaining factor, eh?

The bike doesn't look at that good if you zoom in on the pix, especially the left side. It is kind of crusty looking, and appears to be somewhat cobbled together. I don't think I'd trust the odometer reading. The airbox has that "outdoorsy" look that they get when they live outside exposed to the elements. After you spend the 1800 bucks, then you'll have to deal with the crappy seat cover, leaking carbs, weeping fork seals, old tires and chain, and probably plenty of other issues. Good luck, Bill. It will be interesting to hear what you find if you go look at it.

Man, you all are really digging into THIS one, huh? $:-\$ But, you now, THAT is what I was wanting. I've been around alot of bikes over the years and dealt with them, but I really don't have the knowledge of the SOHC4s and usually, was looking at a bike itself and not just pictures of them. So, I REALLY do appreciate the in depth critique on this.

And, the more I hear, the more I KNOW that, whichever one (If any at all) that I actually get to see 1st hand, I WILL be armed with the info of what to look for and the determination to haggle. So, I HOPE they are prepared to deal.

The screw on top of HL hosusing is correct, there is also one on the bottom lt. and bottom rt. they are the mtn. screws for the hlamp bulb.
