I wish I could say I had a GREAT time this weekend, but I didn't because my piece of #$%* bike gave me trouble getting there and on the way home. Guys I had to get off of 20 after I dropped a cylinder or two and took 78 for about 20 miles before it totally screwed me! So there I was, damn bike would not start,  it had blown out the right baffle on 20 as a last insult before I got off, my cell phone battery was almost dead and I was quickly running the battery down trying to get the #$%* started, no I couldn't even kick it started.
So once again I had to get the piece of crap towed home for $180 F#cking dollars, that on top of the almost $500 I'd spent the day before I left on: a new front tire and tube, a new rear tube, front brake pads and a o-ring chain. A you can see this was a very expensive weekend for me and I sure as hell dd not get my money's worth at all.
Really, I am done with this bike, I truly believe it is cursed, unfortunately I have a lot of cash invested in it and I have to figure out how to get as much back as I can, not sure if I should just part it out or fix and then try to sell it. Anyways, the love affair with this bike is over. I'll never trust it again even if Hondaman himself fixed the damn thing for me, I'm done!
The only highlight of the weekend was meeting you guys. My wife has been so supportive of my fiasco that it scares me a little. Yeah, yeah, I know you're saying keep the bike Vern, now way. I may have another CB in the far of future, but not this one, no way!

Spanner, it was great meeting you and your crew and I'm glad you made it home safely. Yeah, it just wasn't my weekend to say the least. As soon as I can calm myself down, the two beers I had last night didn't do it, I'll figure out the next step on that bike. Thanks, Vern

Hey Vern,

I have a pickup and will be glad to help haul her up to Travis (after you calm down and put the sledge hammer away).

Just let me know Bro!

I had a great time!   I really wish I was on my 750, but alas, someone had to haul the stove, coffee, liquor etc...  Thats where the Goldwing shines.   Vern gets the "trooper award" for hanging in there with all his troubles.  Man you had better bring that thing over so Travis and I can '86 your Dyna.   On another note: does anyone have a way to contact Art?  I don't know his handle here... I was hoping to see some of his pics; I think Vern's holding out on us here...

I too had an awesome time with everyone!!  I am already putting together the details for the first annual SOHC4 Wrench Fest.  I'm thinking about doing it a few Saturdays down the road, maybe a cookout at the shop drink a few beers and have some fun fixing what ever ill's are bikes are suffering.  Everything from front end work to ignition and electrical, and anything else we run into.  I figure giving everyone a few weeks to get parts together should be a help.  Oh, and Vern we have some very nice glass packs that would look sweet on your bike!

Oh and Chris Art is "Nash Dash"

Bill, I will probably take you up on your offer to haul my bike up to Travis's, it may make it there on it's own power though, but thanks for the offer.

Travis, your work shops sound like a great idea, you know my dumb ass can really use them, it's time I man up and start working on my own bike.  My mech had been bugging me to dump those 4-2 for as yoshi to help the engine breathe better so yeah maybe it's time to dump them.

Frabricator, thanks for the award, I'll post my pics soon now that my pity party is over!

Yep!  It was a helluva good time.  So glad we all stayed all weekend.  The parade laps (especially the Saturday ones with no pace car) were a BLAST.  Just leaning into those banked curves with no braking and twisting throtlle on the way out was worth the whole trip.

Many thanks to Chris (Fabricator) for bringing the wing and hauling all our crap around for us AND providing breakfast each morning topped off with imported coffee.  I do think his speedo reads a bit slow though.......haha.  Travis will agree with me on that one!  I wouldn't know thanks to my speedo going out completely after we topped 90ish coming back on I-20.

Travis,

I love the idea of a fix-it cookout.  I'll be at the front of the line with my "never been touched" forks!

Another great year ay Barber......

See y'all soon!

Guys, get your parts ordered (seals, gaiters...), and what ever else you might need.  Let me know when they come in and I will set a workshop date!
