The Harley rider transcend all rules. They are cloaked from harm by their manliness. ;D ;D ;D

Mebbe you guys were hip to this, but I didn't realize that a lot of Harley riders wear fake helmets that are essentially plastic bowls with straps and a fake DOT sticker. That is, where helmets are mandatory.

Ha! That would be funny if someone strapped a salad bowl or collander to their head and wrote DOT on the back in magic marker.  :)

anti-jonny in response to your question you need the lower legs (knee down) from a pony. that'll get your horse down by at least 2 inches but it will make it less supple over the bumps! ;D (know im loads of replies behind but can't help myself)

Back in the day (73) I had an Arthur Fullmer open face and a bubble shield. I was wearing a pair of 50 dollar sun glasses and when I went down I was worried about the glasses falling off so my hands went over the bubble shield. i never knew I had that many knuckles to scrape. Yeow. It was as hot as is gets in the midwest and I'm trying to sleep that night with road rash on every side. Oh and no A.C.

I sat next to a Transplant Unit Nurse from Alabama. She asked if I wore a helmet  Tennessee has no helmet law so they get most of their organs from there. It completely changed my mind about helmet laws  I hope they don;t change the laws Ii may need an extra part sometime.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I always wore a full face on the street.  back then it was a Bell Star that later on was banned due to diminished peripheral vision.  I have a Simpson full face with air inlet for the car.   on the Moto X track i wore a Bell open face with goggles, visor and mouth guard  since speeds were not as high nor potential collision with obstacles.   Now that i'm getting ready to get back on the street i need a new bike helmet.  I want a full face but i can't find anything that doesn't look like someone snatched the head off a Transformer.  I just want a simple clean no bells and whistles , old school Bell Star style helmet.  Any suggestions ?

If you stay away from the sportbike helmets, some of the single color Shoei and HJC look fine and have better side vision than the old Bells.

There was an episode of Top Gear where one of them wore a colander as a helmet while riding across Vietnam.

Bell has resurrected the Star, and it is an absolutely amazing piece of kit. See my review:

I did get one with a design; however, there is a range of colors.

If you want something on the basic side, you may want to check out the selection at Motorcycle Superstore or NewEnough.

Thanks.   That's not too bad as far as the design.     At first the 400.00 seemed steep but i paid more than that for my Simpson fifteen years ago.   I remember buying that Bell Star back in '78 and paying a whopping 90.00.   I still have it but the liner is played out.  The open face Bells were about 50.00.

As long as Jeremy Clarkson is part of the show you don't have to worry about that.  He despises motorcycles. >:(
