I know the 550 Super Sport 4-1 is around 2 1/4"  The MAC header I just got its 2 1/2" though.  Thats just with a rough tape measure look.

the part of my 4 into 2`s that i cut off appears to be at least 2 to 2 1/2 inches or so.

UPDATE 5/07/2006

- Got the bike back from a buddy of mine today. Dropped it off this past friday at his shop to have him install the 16'' HD rear tire , and see what he thought about my leaky brake line issue.

The 16'' rear on the bike looks badass (see pics). I def. like the contrast of the 16'' on the rear, and the 21'' up front. Going from the stock 18'' to the 16'' out back lowered the bike even more, which is always a good thing.  ;D

The brakes are shimmed, which was 1/2 the battle. The lines are still leaking , for some friggin reason. New crush washers were installed, threads cleaned out, etc, still leaking. I rode the bike home from his shop (wrigleyville) to my house (about a 20 min ride) and i was getting little drops of brake fluid on my tank  >:(. Seepage is coming from pretty much every connection , I.E. master, "Y" junction, and each caliper. I am about to buy all new lines and try this again. I wanna do everything I can before I drop the bike off at a shop and pay a crazy labor rate to get it fixed...

Bike is looking good, I can say that with a smile  ;D

I got tired of messin with my front disk, so I changed over to a drum in front. It works just fine for my kind of riding, and no more master cylinders, brake lines, locking /dragging front brake crappola. I like simple.... just like me!

I think I paid right around $75 for the rear tire brand new (discount), and I threw my old
service manager some cash to mount/balance it.

I took the bike out last night around 11pm for a little quick blast, and to check out some things.
Latest issues that need to be addressed are :
1. Brakes are leaking fluid at EVERY junction, I.E. Master to line, line to caliper(s), etc  >:(
2. Front-end seems to be "sloppy". I think (about 98% sure) the spacer that was made for the front-end is not wide enough, and thus the slop in the front end  >:( You can really feel it when making right hand turns, kinda scary, and not safe/correct.. >:(
3. Dupli-color low gloss engine enamel might look good, but once you get some gas/brake fluid spilled on it, looks like CRAP. Tank and sidecovres will need to be removed and repainted after all of the mechanical work is complete (whenever that might be)  >:(
4. Need to look into a different sprocket for the rear. It was a big one to begin with, and now I think i shortened my powerband even more with the 16'' rear. Thing was "buzzing" last night, and I couldn't of been doing more than 55-6o mph.. I am all about stoplight racers, but it would be nice to be able to cruise at 65-70 MPH when I need / want to...

As of 5/8/2006 I ave made the decision to drop the bike off at a local shop in the city that deals with vintage Jap iron (Triple-O Service). I am sick of wasiting time (& money) on this project , when I could of just paied the cash and had it all sorted out months ago. Every time I try and cut a corner, and save me som cash, it turns around to bite me in the ass, as this project has done many a times..It is gonna cost me some cash, and take about a month, but when I do get it back, i know it will be 100%....

dude it sucks that she's giving you so many problems, but its lookin sweet!

try plasti-kote anti rust enamel when you repaint. I've dripped gas on my tank a couple times and it still looks fine

I wonder- since the brake lines are leaking from every junciton..  Is it possible that the inside diameter of the line fittings is too big, and so there is too much clearance around all the line bolts?  I can only guess that American bikes and Jap bikes use a different size standard for the brake line banjo bolts..  Maybe this is why the leaks?

Anyways, the bike is looking great!  Can't wait to see it once you get all the gremlins worked out.

CAPTAIN'S LOG---> 5/11/2006
The bike is FINALLY going to Triple-O service (Downtown Chicago) this weekend. It was supposed to be their yesterday, but my "friend" decided to waste my day and blow me off. Just another reason why I am selling my Ford Excursion 4 a New f-150. This way I dont have to re-lie on ANYONE to get my bike somewhere..

Anyways, the bike is all ready to be torn apart by the shop , and repaired to better than new condition. This shop is known for doing everything from full restorations to race prep to solving issues on bikes like mine.. Fred (the owner) comes highly reccomended, and has years of working on these bikes under his belt. He doesn't come cheap, but what does now-a-days..A small list of things that need to be addressed are :

1. Brakes/Front end
2. Front Wheel spacer issue
3. Complete tune-up / Carb rebuild
4. Re-wire turn signals (so I dont get killed)
5. Install new throttle cables


Looking forward to getting the bike back so I can ride it, and believe me I plan to ride it hard.....

Yup, one of the few Mopar lovers that can read  ;D
My Excursion (2002) loves to drink Diesel. Just driving to and from work, I am spending $85 bucks
a week, and thats just a 1/2 tank  :o Truck was nice when I had my racecar and 30'' enclosed trailer, but now I dont need it. It is paied off, and I get a sick ford discount, so a fully ( I mean fully) loaded F-150 crew cab is in my near future..I plan to get the bed Rhino lined, and install a quick release front wheel chock, for when I need to move my CB around....

Went out to the garage to do some mock-up's of the solo seat I have had since October of last year.
I didn't feel like tearing into the stock plastic rear fender, but I laied the seat on the bike to get a look.
I can honestly say I dont like it. I cant see how the seat could be made to look good, even if I build some sort
of "plate" to cover the battery. The frame seems to be way to "straight" for a better word to pull off the roundness
of the solo seat. Think I might look into a reg. ol' fiberglass cafe style seatpan from Carpy or something.
Need to ponder this over some Crown Royal & Cokes tonite, the ProTeal drink of choice...  :P

Bike has a 2pm appointment tomorrow to get dropped off at Triple-O service in the city.
Last pic is of the new 130mm tire - looks huge on this little bike  ;D

More updates to come in the never ending saga which is my CB.....

I agree with ya 100%.
I am just gonna ride it with the stock seat untill I figure out something that will actually
look good. Have gone thru too much crap to just throw something on their for the sake of "changing" something...

What rear signals are those - have a closeup?  I'm thinking about very low profile signals in that area, where the grab bar mounts, and thinking about mouning a brake light under the bar supporting the back end of the seat.  Needless to say I won't be running a rear fender.
