Help Needed - Other Bike - 1968 CL450 Honda Scrambler
« on: July 08, 2011, 05:12:59 PM »
Guys, I'm now desperate for 2 rubber grommets for my 1968 K1 Honda CL450 Scrambler. I've been what you could say is "everywhere" looking for a pair of side-cover grommets that will let me finish assembly. Unfortunately, the parts fiche is not correct on these and the part they show I have in my hand NOS, but they are not correct. I've checked with Terry of Western Hills and Nick over at Ohio Cycle and both agree it's wrong, but show the part # 17245-292-000 having the chrome dome like used on the CB350 twins.

Do any of you have old K1 450 covers from a 1968 that I could purchase the rubber off of? I need to get a pair that's usable, but as a fallback plan, I'll take one and send to Greg at Clauss Studios and have him reproduce them. I need a pattern first.

Here is what the bike and side cover look like. I don't think any other year or model will work - the screw is very short and has a special head. While the hole looks common -- there is a unique flair in the back and I've tried several regular/universal grommets and they don't/won't work with the correct bolt.

Thanks in advance for inputs and help. Thanks, Gordon
