Buying and selling???????
« on: July 09, 2011, 07:47:04 PM »
I am not sure if many of you look at CL daily but I have found an interesting thing... I missed out on a Honda Cb550 a few weeks ago due to a person buying it from underneath me at 6am the following day... Well who would have THUNKED it... I am looking at the Madison CL and I come across the bike again....It sold for 800 now listed for 1500... he even took off the 4-1 and the cool king queen seat.. The original owner gave the original pipes and seat... Man how many of you have bought a bike from CL and sold it right away for a profit or seen a bike listed dirt cheap and listed not to long after it was sold????

You have to try and get them before the 'Flippers" do  ;)

You must be quick.  Yesterday I brought a 73 CB750 that was listed Friday evening located an hour from home.  Not complete, but has Hendry Abe wheels.  Luck is important,  I did not know what I had til research on this forum told me.

There's a lot of flippers out there. They don't give a *flip* about these old Honda's. There aren't interested in restoration projects or just fixing them up to enjoy riding them like most of us here are. They've done there research and know there in high demand. There only concern is buy as cheap as possible and resale as quick as possible for a very large profit.

Everyone needs money to survive. It's just business. Some buy bikes to flip, others buy houses. I am always looking through CL for deals on anything. I used to hit the pick and pulls, pile up on parts and put them on Ebay.

I used to order a few extra sohc4 air filters anytime I ordered parts for my bikes.  I'd then list and sell them on ebay for three times what I paid to help offset the cost of my parts.  Never had any trouble selling them very quickly.  Some people don't do research before they buy, and some don't do any before they sell.

Yeah I figured that.. It's a smart move to resell if you are able to turn a quick profit.....

I thought it was ironic that i missed out on a great bike and then came across an even more complete bike, better shape and only one owner.. Yes it may have been a 6 hour drive one way to get it but I am pleased..

Not true. I love them. It's why I'm always watching CL and other venue's for them. If I can find one that I know that I can do a bit of work to and make money, I'll do it.

If it's listed for a good deal, I'll not beat the guy up for a better deal.

Ah, PKnoop, you are Definitely NOT from the northeast USA where
no matter what price you put on something the buyers always
try to talk you down.

I will try to talk anyone down on anything, once talked a cashier at a truckstop into taking $50 off a cb radio I wanted, just convinced her it was too expensive.
