« on: November 05, 2011, 01:20:51 PM »
Been riding my 84vf700, but moved the cb today for street cleaning, and ripped around the neighborhood. I think I'll be selling the vf, i love the cb. I'm going to make it pretty again! now, I just need a tank, forks, headlight, seat, wheels fenders, side covers..........

It's so easy to do. Been there done that also ;D Rode Honda's all through the 70's the last one was a 76 CB550 that I sold before I got married in 1980. Went bikeless for 20 years and than in 1999 got a HD Wide Glide. Than in 2009 got another Honda a 1976 CB750 and than 6 months ago got another a 1970 750KO. The Harley has been ridden very little ever since. Not that I don't like the Harley it's just these old CB's are unique ;D

I know exactly what you mean. I've been riding GL's for the last 16 years- going back to my newly restored 550 has been a joy.

Did the same thing guys. Had a CB900 Custom when I was "younger"  like right out of High School had some great times with it. Daughter came along and money was tighter than tight. Sold the bike and thought, I will get another some day. Flash forward to now, 25th Anniversary this year. The wife says what do you want for a 25th present. I say an old CB750 SOHC. She does some internet research, a guy pulls up in front of the house and rings the door bell. I answer and he says, would I be interested in a old CB750? Hell yes. The wifes just smiling. That guy left without the bike and I have been having a blast ever since!
My wife's a keeper don't ya think?!?!?  :-*
Now what kind of ride should I get for our 50th...mmmmmmm ;)

She got any sisters? ;D ;)
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Do not want to be a big Debbie Downer, and don't get me wrong because I love my CB750's but sometimes it feels real good to go out and get down on a GT750 smoker,Kaw Triple or my CB900F or some other smaller machines just to mix it up a little. There are so many fun old classic bikes out there to play with. When you guys see a deal on an old classic don't be afraid to step out of the box a little, you can still come back here and play-------- :D

Feel the same way.  Bought a VTX1300 new in 05 after 25 years without a bike when the last of our 4 children went to college.  Have since put 36,000 miles on it mostly touring.  It's OK and relatively comfortable on the highway but doesn't really do anything really well.  Been looking at Cb750Ks for a while and tracking prices.

Went to look at a 13,000 mile Cb750k4 about a month ago and it followed me home.  Will still have under 3 grand in it when I finish fixing it's relatively minor issues.  What a blast to ride!  I have always loved the sound of these bikes, and it's nimble, fast, and 300 lbs. lighter than the VTX.  Why didn't I think of this before?

Ekpent - would love to own a Z1 or H2, but those super bikes are getting so expensive and I rarely see them for sale around here. Plus parts are harder to find and pricey.
Maybe one day, I really don't need three CB750s!

I have been shopping for a 500/750 Kaw triple for a long time but as you noted they are sky high.Have not got lucky yet. So far I have found a 350 and 400 triple that I could afford and some Suzuki triples.Honda definately got it right though when they built these SOHC's so many years ago, they do a lot of things very nicely and are so easy to maintain. Long live the SOHC.
