Well, It's been and interesting weekend. Found out that the guy I had initialy hired to close up the back end of my bike had went ahead and welded up the piece. Not sure why, as I'd already taken the frame back.
Oh well. I went ahead and bought the piece for $20.
Here's to having extra parts for the next project.
So anyway, I ended up taking the frame to Justin at Two Wheel Werkz in Brownsburg, IN.
I normaly wouldnt mention names, but Justin did a great job on the fabrication and did not charge me the proverbial
"arm and a leg."
Other than the frame, I took the  weekend and monday to work on the front end.

Rebuilt and painted the brake calipers. They're both all flat-black now.

I just now realized that I've forgotten to take a picture of the frame. I just took it to be sand blasted and painted, so I'll post a picture as soon as I get it back.

As for that pipe, that is not the stock pipe, FYI. But, as you said, it should work for now.

The parts are looking good. Keep it going.

I could. It was D&B machine shop on 31 here in indianapolis.
Unfortunatly, they just went out of business.
I bought a 1975 Goldwing.

Finally got my master cylinder back together. It took the assistance of just a bit of white lithium grease.
I also ordered another set of fork seals, as I bent the first one i tried to install out of shape trying to fit it in to the shock slide.
Also, my frame is powder coated, I should be able to pick it up soon.
Apearently, there was a crack in my down tubes on the frame, didn't want to worry about it, so i had it welded all together.
I guess I don't get why they weren't welded at the factory. But oh well.

My birthday's coming up, and I've got new ideas in my head and new parts waiting for me.
Will have more pictures when I get back.

Frame is done, waiting to get the new steering bearings fitted.
Also having a bit of trouble with the fork seals, but I should be able to get that sorted this weekend.

How did you do the rear loop? I had a hell of a time trying to find someone to bend 1" pipe (no 1" dies in my town apparently). Looks like it's two separate bends welded together. What did you use metal wise? 1"OD steel, or 3/4" EMT?

Good eye, it is a two piece weld. I had the same problem with finding the right dye. I ended up going with "one inch, schedule forty" tubing.
I also heard, afterwards, that the easiest way to do it is to use solid bar stock. Apparently you can just heat it up with a torch and bend it around whatever shape you want. If (when) I end up doing a bike like this again, that's most likely what I'll do.

Hey there CRXjones.

Not sure how I missed this thread before now.  Your build looks great.  There are lots of old CBs around the Indy area and several Indy folks here on the forum.

Not sure if you were aware of it, but there's a monthly vintage night at the Steer Inn (10th and Emerson) that's pretty well attended in the warmer months.  First Thursday of each month.  Hope you can come and show the bike off when it's finished.

Just heard that the steering bearings are successfully mounted and I believe i now have the correct size of fork seals.
My goal of having a roller by the first of the year just might be achieved.

She's up on two wheels now. I made the newyears deadline. It was really great to reach "the next step," and actually see some progress. Have to wait to get this title situation sorted out, then she's gonna start to really come together, I think.

The problem is not just 1 inch dies. The problem is that the radius is 4 inches.
Most dies are 4.5 inches.

I know it's been a while, but I’ve been busy.
Getting closer.

It's been a slow year. I've been getting side-tracked by other projects. But I've finally made a bit of progress.
Here's the rundown:
Halogen headlight replacement
Flipped clubman bars
New switches on both handles
Brand new wiring
Ignition system, i went with pamco. We’ll see how that turns out.
Clutch and throttle cables
Battery

She's turning over.
But there's still a way to go.
i still need to:
Finish setting up the goldwing brakes on the front
Re-install the boot brakes on the back
Carbs cleaned, re-installed, and synchronized (in progress)
Paint the tank
Build the seat

I've been running her around the block here and there. Still dealing with some carb issues. I have a cold tube on startup and shes just reluctant to start sometimes......

I believe they are merely his seat mounts for the seat pan to hinge using the original hinges on the frame.  With a set of neopren or rubber sheet beneath each contact point it is a unique and nice way to provide a solid seat pan that can hinge up to access anything below the seat pan.  I like it, having not seen that before.

Gulf schemes are cool.  You know you are needing a nice Duc 900SS to go with it...

I like what you have done with it.

I like the Gulf livery color scheme too. I saw in FB that you were considering white wall tires to go with it. That of course is up to you, but if you are soliciting opinions I would opt against. Gulf evokes racing not luxury Buicks and Cadillacs. Just my $0.02.
