Grand Canyon of the South
« on: July 09, 2011, 04:46:38 PM »
we made a trip over father's day to the Southern Grand Canyon.
Deepest gorge east of the Mississippi. We battled blinding rain and hail to get there.

Here's a few pictures. Maybe I should write a ride report with routes, cause there are at least
100 miles of road that put the Dragon to shame and there is very little traffic.

BTW Bill, if you noticed that vine in the one picture, it's kudzu, there will be no more Breaks in two years.

Routes you say Dyrend,

hows this for a map,

http://maps.google.com/maps?oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=the+breaks+interstate+park&fb=1&gl=us&hq=the+breaks+interstate+park&ei=qFMaTrrTEabb0QGPpLiWBQ&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=image&ved=0CAQQtgM&cid=0,0,15479337289685507778

we went out going 460 to Tazewell, then 19 to 80 into the Breaks.
coming back we took 63 to alt 58 into Abingdon, the 58 over to Hillsville, then 221 n back to Floyd.

I live up here in the Blue Ridge and cannot work out why anybody wants to do the dragon. It is always covered up with all kinds of tards and cops! Just hit any road around here and enjoy the twisties without all of the traffic on the dragon!!!
