Topic: Engine painted back???

Does anyone know if some of the CB750's came with the engine painted black.  Mine is but it looks as if someone painted it at a later date.  Regardless, any idea of the best way to get it off and then polished?  The paint is flaking off in some places and just doesn't look good.

the only CB750's that came with a black painted engine from the factory were the '77-78 CB750F models.

I've never seen that paint "flake", but it tends to get worn thin.  Sounds like you have an aftermarket paint job.

There are a bunch of threads on degreasing and painting engines on the forum along with polishing covers etc.  Try using the search function.
